A Stoughton woman, allegedly driving drunk, was arrested after her truck hit a pole and tree on Plain St. in Stoughton Friday afternoon.

Original story posted 7/26 at 3 p.m.; Updated at 9 p.m. on 7/26:

A white Ford F-150 pickup truck driving on Plain St. Friday around 1:15 p.m. plowed through a telephone pole and a large tree, bringing both down, along with three other poles, Lt. Bill Barkowsky of the Stoughton Fire Department said.

The driver, Melissa Brock, 42, of Sumner St. in Stoughton, was drunk, according to police.

Brock was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor; possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle; the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle; reckless operation of a motor vehicle; marked lanes violation; and failure to slow, according to the Stoughton Police log.

The truck was traveling in the direction towards Morton St./Washington St., and crashed near Plain Street's intersection with Swanson Terrace, Barkowsky said.

Wires and poles were down across the roadway on Plain St., as a result.

The crash also knocked out power in the area for about 1,000 customers in the Plain St., West St., and Highland St. area.  According to the National Grid outage website, as of 9 p.m. on Friday, less than 10 customers remained without power.

Luckily, there were no reported injuries.

Brock was the lone occupant in the truck. She was not transported to the hospital, Barkowsky said. The truck sustained moderate damage, he said, mostly contained to the front end and hood area.

The Stoughton Police and Fire Departments and utility crews all responded to the scene.
