Alleged Drunk Driver Strikes Pole on Gay St. in Stoughton, Knocks Out Power in Area

An alleged drunk driver crashed his car into a pole on Gay St. in Stoughton late Sunday night, around 10:45, bringing down the pole and knocking out power in the area.

The vehicle crashed into a pole, snapping it at the base, before the vehicle came to a rest against a tree 30 or 40 feet away from the pole, Greg Bourget of the Stoughton Fire Department said.

The pole brought wires down, causing a power outage in the area, Bourget said. Power has since been restored.
