ReplyWhat I would like to know when the Stoughton inbound trains will return to the pre-June schedule. Right now there is an 8:05 inbound and and 9:40 inbound with nothing between. Since I put my daughter on the school bus it now throws off my work schedule. At $186. per month I wish they could squeeze in another train ASAP between the above two time slots.

ReplyFondly remember building sand castles there! Childhood memories for most of Stoughton are pretty strong around that Stoughton landmark!

ReplyDwight - nice history indeed. And someday my Mortimer Lamb watercolor of the causeway will come to the Historical Society. As you recall the Porter's were road builders and were responsible for building the causeway ca. 1830's.

The town of Stoughton was named in honor of Lt. Gov. William Stoughton (1632-1701) in 1726. He was not married and members of his immediate family did not settle here. There no doubt have been Stoughton's in Stoughton in the 19th and 20th century but none directly related to the late Lt. Governor and former judge of the Salem Witchcraft trials.

ReplyThank you Lowertaxes!! One historical note to correct - the picture of Bobby Orr that my editor chose is 1970 Stanley Cup not 1972, but I think it adds the effect just the same.

I was trying to find a class picture for 1911. If you have one I would love to get a copy. Delighted to be able to remember your grandmother. Mine graduated from Milton High School Class of 1914.
And my eldest daughter will be graduating one hundred years later in 2014 from SHS.
