THE BEST THREE DOLLAR DINNER ANYWHERE! The Friends for Seniors held their Annual Christmas Dinner at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall on Saturday, December 1, and 300 grateful and very happy seniors enjoyed a delicious chicken dinner, with stuffing, baked potato, green beans, and a cake from Costco for dessert. The seniors got charged only a nominal $3 for the dinner, which also featured raffles. The Friends for Seniors do a fundraiser each year to supplement the cost. The food was prepared by Mike Sammarco and the Sons of Italy Crew - Donald Interrante, Dennis Gada, Alan Veterosa, Steve Signori, Steve Bates, Phil Glynn, Chet Collins, Nancy Patterson, Jo-Ann Signori, and Brenda Lehan.  There were plenty of local officials in …

FRIENDS FOR SENIORS GOLF TOURNAMENT CANCELED:  The Executive Board of Stoughton's Friends For Seniors, including  Dennis McCarthy, who served as President, and his wife Lorraine, the group's Secretary, has resigned.  The new Executive Board of Friends For Seniors is led by former Selectman and SMAC Board member Bob Mullen as President. The new Vice President is Joe Araujo, and Treasurer is Florence Stearns. At a transitional meeting on March 20, no one was willing to run the scheduled golf tournament for this Fall.  Members of the board cited the large amount of work that it takes to put on a tournament like that.  The new board voted to suspend the tournament for 2012 and to revisit it for 2013.     The tournament funded many Friends for …

Ways to Give Back This Holiday Season (Part II)

Several Stoughton businesses and organizations are holding holiday coat drives, food drives or toy drives.

Holiday Gift Drive For Tots, Teens and Seniors The Giving Tree at the Immaculate Conception Church on Canton St. in Stoughton is sponsoring a gift drive to help less fortunate children, teens and senior citizens enjoy the holiday. All gifts will be given to people from Stoughton who “need a brighter light this holiday season.” Gifts for children and teens can be dropped off at the O’Donnell Middle School or Stoughton Public Library and gifts for senior citizens can be dropped off at the Stoughton Senior Center or Stoughton Public Library. Sullivan Tire Announces Grand Opening of Stoughton Location

The auto and tire service opened Nov. 23. They will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots at their 566 Washington St. location in Stoughton until Dec. 12.

The location opened on November 23 and is the 55th Sullivan Tire retail location. WILL STOUGHTON TIRE OF THIS?  So, I have good news. Another new business is opening in an empty building, and it's not a pizza shop. But, the not-so-great news is that it's another tire store that is opening next to two other tire stores on Route 138. Sullivan Tire is opening in the former location of Midas Muffler at 566 Washington Street on Rt. 138.  Sullivan Tire Co., Inc. was founded in 1955 and is based in Norwell, Massachusetts. The company has store locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Maine, as well as truck center locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island.
