Heavy Rain, Strong Winds in Forecast for Stoughton Area Tuesday and Wednesday

A multi-hazard weather event is in store for Tuesday afternoon and night and into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Potential hazards include heavy rain, strong winds, high tides, and the possibly of isolated severe thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service has forecast heavy rain, strong winds and the potential of thunderstorms for the Stoughton area Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. There is a wind advisory and hazardous weather outlook in place. The worst of the storm is projected to be Tuesday evening and into Wednesday. According to the NWS: The weather settles down after that. Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny. Temperatures will be in the mid 60s on Thursday and the low 70s on Friday. OMG!!!!! Wind & rain. Will residents survive??? Will there be school??? If so, will children walk to school or be driven (kids would love to jump in the puddles, as we did)??? Possibility of Downpours, Damaging Winds and Thunderstorms for Stoughton Area Fri/Sat

The possibility of downpours, damaging winds and thunderstorms has prompted a "hazardous weather outlook" for the Stoughton area this Fri/Sat, August 10-11.

With the likelihood of rain and the chance of heavy downpours, damaging wind gusts and thunderstorms this Friday and Saturday, a "hazardous weather outlook" has been issued for the Stoughton area, according to the National Weather Service. The following information is from the National Weather Service in Taunton and pertains to all of Massachusetts except Berkshire County: There will be an unsettled period of weather ahead of us Friday through Saturday evening. Thunderstorms with very heavy downpours and possibly damaging wind gusts will be the main threats. Showers and thunderstorms will become more numerous during the course of Friday. Flash Flood Watch Issued for Stoughton Area

Severe thunderstorms expected to bring torrential rainfall on Thursday.

The National Weather Service is predicting a rough day for residents of Massachusetts and said earlier today they plan to release weather watches as the day progresses. The first watch has just been issued for flash flooding. The flash flood watch will go into effect at 4 p.m. The region can expect thunderstorms later today, with some being severe. These storms may produce heavy downpours, with 2 to 4 inches of rain possible in these storms. The NWS says this could result in flooding. A flash flood watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Other hazards expected from any severe thunderstorms today include damaging wind and large hail. Severe Thunderstorm Watch For Stoughton

Severe storms are predicted after 3 p.m., with frequent lightning, heavy downpours, large hail and damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service.

UPDATED: 2:30 p.m. The National Weather Service now says storms may roll through Stoughton as early as 3 p.m. There may be some localized street flooding during these storms, as heavy downpours are expected. WHDH-TV, Channel 7 reports that a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for all of Eastern Massachusetts until 8 p.m. on July 24. *** While it is a beautiful sunny day at 2 p.m. with blue skies, the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the eastern part of Massachusetts.
