Interim Town Manager: Stoughton Mourns Death of Shayla Lutz Following Fatal Pedestrian Accident

Stoughton's Interim Town Manager Joseph D. Feaster, Jr. issues a statement about Friday's fatal collision near the Hansen School which took the life of three-year-old Shayla Lutz.

Stoughton Schools Issue Statement About Fatal Collision Near Hansen School

A police trauma team will be at the Hansen School September 19 when school reopens after Rosh Hashanah. School officials and Public Safety officials will carefully review all traffic areas around the Stoughton Schools.

Shayla Lutz, Age 3, of Stoughton, Identified as Toddler Killed in Collision Near Hansen School

The Norfolk County District Attorney's Office released the name of the victim from Friday afternoon's fatal pedestrian accident. No criminal charges will be filed at this time, according to the DA's office.

The Norfolk County District Attorney's Office has released the name of the toddler killed in Friday afternoon's pedestrian accident in front of the Hansen Elementary School on Central St. in Stoughton. Shayla Lutz, age 3, of Stoughton, was transported from the scene after being hit by a box truck, but did not survive her injuries, according to the DA's office. She was pronounced dead at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. The accident took place at about 2:45 p.m. on September 14. "Shayla and her mom, who was pushing another child in a stroller, were crossing Central Street to pick up her older sibling from Hansen Elementary School," CBS Boston reports. Toddler Struck, Killed Near Hansen School in Stoughton

Investigators are speaking to the driver and witnesses. The accident happened around 2:45 p.m. on Friday.

A Stoughton toddler has died after being struck by a box truck in front of the Hansen Elementary School on Central St. in Stoughton on Friday, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office.  The accident took place at about 2:45 p.m. on September 14. Shayla Lutz, age 3, of Stoughton, was transported from the scene but did not survive her injuries, according to the DA's office. She was pronounced dead at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. "The driver of the truck stopped at the scene and is being interviewed, as are other eye witnesses to the event," according to a press release from the DA's office. UPDATED: Small Child Seriously Injured After Being Struck by Car in Front of Hansen School

Central Street is closed at Island St and at Knollsbrook.

UPDATED, 4:09 p.m.: Stoughton officials have only confirmed that one person was struck. Earlier media reports said five people were injured.  A serious pedestrian accident has shut down Central Street in front of the Hansen School and seriously injured a small child Friday afternoon. Executive Officer Robert Divine of Stoughton Police Department said that a small child suffered serious injuries in the accident and that they are not issuing any further statement at this time.  Central Street is closed from the stretch between Island Street and around Knollsbrook.
