Stoughton Fire Department Helps to Deliver Baby Boy

The baby boy was born in a Stoughton Fire Department ambulance on the way to the hospital shortly before 7 p.m. on July 31. There were no complications during the birth.

The Stoughton Fire Department helped to deliver a healthy baby boy Tuesday night. The baby was born at 6:43 p.m. on July 31 in a SFD ambulance just as it was passing the RK shopping plaza on Park St. in Stoughton, right on the Brockton line, according to Brian Harkins of the SFD. The ambulance was en route to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton where hospital staff met the mother, baby and SFD upon arrival. There were no complications during the birth, according to Scott Mellyn of the Stoughton Fire Department. Mellyn said the baby started crying immediately when he was born. "That sound was wonderful for all to hear," Mellyn said, adding that the mother was "doing fantastic." A woman who was 37 weeks pregnant called the Stoughton …
