Brett Layton (113), Brandon Layton (120), Mikey Cardoso (126), Mike Carroll (160), Stefanos Kampouris (170), Joey Girolamo (182), Scott Camuso-Sullivan (220) and Bryan Nguyen (heavyweight) all recorded individual match wins for Stoughton. Cardoso, Kampouris, Camuso-Sullivan, along with fellow seniors Mike Dixon and Nick Michienzi were all honored before the start of the match as part of Stoughton's Senior Night ceremony. …

Photos by Justin Braga; article by Stoughton Patch editor Jeffrey Pickette *** Building a 35-12 lead after winning seven of the first 10 individual matches, the Stoughton High wrestling team withstood a late Foxborough really and beat the Warriors, 38-30, in a meet between the Hockomock League Davenport Division teams Wednesday night in Stoughton. The win over Foxborough comes on the heels of Stoughton's second place finish out of 20 teams at the Northbridge Tournament Jan. 12. Against Foxborough, Brett Layton (106), Mike Cardoso (126), Rob Mone (152), Mike Carroll (160), Stefanos Kampouris (170), Joey Girolamo (182), Scott Camuso-Sullivan (220) and Bryan Nguyen (heavyweight) recorded individual match wins. The Stoughton High wrestling team started the season off with a 39-27 win over Mansfield Dec. 12 at home. Mike Dixon (145), Mike Carroll (160) and Joey Girolamo (220) earned individual wins for Stoughton. Take a look at the media gallery for photos of the meet. With a new coach this young team looks to step up in the Hock.
Underneath Stoughton High School, there is a dank maze of whitewashed corridors connecting locker rooms, trainer's offices and supply closets. After a few minutes you get used to that locker room smell—decades of damp, concentrated sweat crusted onto tile floors and spread by the warm air from industrial-sized heaters. This is where Stoughton High wrestling practice begins. "Usually, we start with 10-15 minutes of stairs," first year coach Justin Leonard explained gesturing towards the 20-plus adolescents gasping their way up and down a staircase at full speed, "as a little warm-up," he added without irony.
