List of Most Dangerous Intersections in Massachusetts Includes Two in Stoughton

The Intersections at Washington St./Central St. and Canton St./School St. are among the most dangerous in the state.

The intersections of Washington/Central Streets and Canton/School Streets in Stoughton, are among the most 200 dangerous in the Massachusetts, according to a list released by the state, which tracked crashes and injuries from 2008-2010. This "2008-2010 Statewide Top 200 Intersection Crash List" was included in a WBZ-TV I-Team report. The Washington St. and Central St. intersection is tied for 59th on this list. The intersection includes traffic lights. Still, there have been 77 accidents there from 2008-2010, according to the list, and 15 injuries, but no fatalities. It would be helpful if they would put an arrow light at Central and Pleasant (Rt 139). It is impossible to take a left turn there, either way, during morning and evening commute. Have seen many accidents there, as drivers try to take the left at the yellow light. Very dangerous...   more ›

Driver Charged in Sunday's Hit-and-Run Crash in Stoughton

The Stoughton Police charged a Canton woman for her role in a hit-and-run car crash at the intersection of Central and Washington Streets July 8 in Stoughton.

The driver who took off in the hit and run car crash Sunday evening in Stoughton has been identified and charged, the Stoughton Police Department announced Wednesday on the Department's Facebook page. Melissa Degrande, 38, of 3213 Windsor Woods in Canton has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury; leaving the scene of an accident with property damage; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; and failure to stop at a red light. Stoughton's Central/Washington St. Intersection a Magnet for Accidents and Congestion

Sunday's hit-and-run crash is the latest accident at Stoughton's Central St. and Washington St. intersection, which has been named one of the most hazardous intersections in the state.

A hit-and-run accident Sunday, July 8 at 8 p.m. at the intersection of Central and Washington Streets in Stoughton sent three to the hospital, including one who was transported to Boston via MedFlight with serious injuries. The crash once again brings attention to one of the most dangerous and congested intersections in town. A truck traveling north on Washington St. Sunday evening went through a red light and hit the driver's side of a sedan traveling on Central St., which was making its way through the intersection at the time, the Brockton Enterprise reports. Hit-and-Run Crash in Stoughton Sends Three to Hospital, Including One via MedFlight

The car crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on July 8 at the intersection of Central and Washington Streets in Stoughton.

An apparent hit-and-run accident Sunday night in Stoughton sent three to the hospital, including one who was transported to Boston via MedFlight with serious injuries, according to fire and police officials. The Stoughton Fire and Police Departments responded to the intersection of Washington and Central Streets in Stoughton shortly after 8 p.m. on July 8 for a hit-and-run accident. A vehicle took off after hitting a four-door Honda sedan at the intersection, Captain Scott Breen of the SFD said. The incident remains an ongoing investigation, SPD Officer Joseph DeSousa said.
