What would you like to see done with the old Kabob House restaurant space at 756 Washington St. in downtown Stoughton?
Drive around Stoughton and you'll notice a number of empty storefronts and buildings. We're continuing a new series titled "Visions for Vacancies." We'll showcase an empty storefront and ask you what should take up the space. Last time we asked what you would like to see done with the old Family Dollar location on Washington St. This week, we turn our attention to the former Kabob House location at 756 Washington St. in the downtown, which has been home to a handful of different restaurants in recent years. Said "Felix" Safai owned and operated the Kabob House in downtown Stoughton for several months, starting in the spring of 2010. But, heavy snow during the winter of 2010-2011 collapsed the roof of the former Cheng-Du restaurant next …

This week, we turn our attention to the old Family Dollar store location at 605 Washington St. (adjacent to the STOYAC Community Football Field and behind the Citizens Bank Plaza). Family Dollar didn't leave town - instead they expanded when the store moved to a larger location nearby at 525 Washington St. in the space formerly occupied by the Royal Buffet Chinese Restaurant and Kidsports. But what …

Last week we asked what you would like to see done with the former Stoughton Groomers and Missy's Puppyland location on Park Street. This week, we turn our attention to the former state theater/Stoughton Cinema Pub on Washington Street in the downtown. The State Theater opened in 1927 and closed as the Stoughton Cinema Pub in 2007. It has been vacant since, but a "Save The State Theater" group led by Michael Mutascio has been working to raise the funds needed to restore the building to its former glory. Some see the …

What would you like to see done with the Stoughton Train Station? Should the town purchase it?
Drive around Stoughton and you'll notice a number of empty storefronts and buildings. We're starting a new series titled "Visions for Vacancies." We'll showcase an empty storefront and ask you what should take up the space. It makes sense to start with the vacancy that has made headlines recently - the historic Stoughton Train Station. The MBTA recently put the Train Station up for sale, until Stoughton's state house delegation - Senator Brian A. Joyce and Representatives Louis Kafka and William Galvin intervened, giving the town a chance to work out a deal for the property. The station was built in 1888 (it's on the National Register of Historic Places) and was renovated in 1988 at the cost of $1 million, thanks to funding from a …
