BREAKFAST HELD FOR DOWNTOWN BUSINESS OWNERS: The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) sponsored a breakfast for downtown business owners, town officials, and interested parties last Friday, Jan. 25 at the Old Colony YMCA in Stoughton. Emily Torres-Cullinane, the Community Liaison for MAPC said, "This is really a time for people to meet. I really enjoyed my walk in downtown Stoughton. Everyone was so friendly! Of particular interest to me was the large percentage of female-owned businesses. I'd estimate half of the owners I met were women. That's a good thing!" FARMERS MARKET IS COMING! Stoughton Residents and employees have formed a Stoughton Farmers Market Committee and they have spent the last number of months working hard to bring a farmer's market to Stoughton. While the weekly farmer's market won't start until June 2013, they are having a big Community Preview Event, free to the public, on Saturday, October 6, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Trackside Plaza (adjacent to the Stoughton Train Station.) This Preview Event will have vendors selling produce, cheeses, meats, breads and other baked goods, plus free samples of Crescent Ridge milk. Farmers Market Coming to Stoughton The Stoughton Farmers Market Committee has been hard at work this summer planning for a single farmers market event in town this fall, with the long term goal of having regularly scheduled farmers markets in 2013. The first event is scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Trackside Plaza (2 Canton St.). The group is the process of lining up vendors. NEW RESTAURANT APPROVED: CV Cafe is a familiar name. There are places as far away as Canada and Australia with restaurants by the same name. But, Tuesday night selectmen approved a husband and wife team opening a 24-seat restaurant by that name in a space occupied by three now defunct eateries. The Cafe is scheduled to open in the coming week at 2 Canton Street, which formerly housed a hot dog place, an Italian restaurant, and a Middle Eastern restaurant. It's part of the Trackside Plaza near the train station. We wish them luck. In Steve Kelley, they have one of the best landlords in town. what about the parking on School st- it says NO PARKING (CORNER CAFE) Yet everyone parks there leaving kids to walk into the street w traffic at the biz times. If there are signs that say NO PARKING then why have the Stoughton Police dept done anything about the cars that park there? Whats it gonna take another child to be killed in stoughton due to the no side walks? Shouldnt there be side walks…   more ›
