Synagogues in Stoughton, Brockton, Randolph Looking to Merge A Tri-Congregational Discussion on Regionalization for three local synagogues was held on Thursday, Feb. 14 at Temple Beth Emunah in Brockton. Representatives of Ahavath Torah Congregation in Stoughton and Temple Beth Am in Randolph also attended the meeting, which attracted over 250 interested parties. The plan, still in the discussion phase, is for these three temples to merge into one congregation and use an interim site (Temple Beth Emunah) until a new building is constructed. The recommendation to merge, and begin attending services at the interim location in July of 2014 is not finalized. Each of the temple’s congregations still needs to vote on the plan. The vote is …

TEMPLES LOOKING TO MERGE: A Tri-Congregational Discussion on Regionalization for three local synagogues was held on Thursday, Feb. 14 at Temple Beth Emunah in Brockton. Representatives of Ahavath Torah Congregation in Stoughton and Temple Beth Am in Randolph also attended the meeting, which attracted over 250 interested parties. Alan Teperow, whose father was a former president at Temple Beth Am, was the lead facilitator of the meeting. He is Executive Director of the Synagogue Council of Massachusetts. Teperow said “this is sacred territory. MERGING OF THE MINDS: Ahavath Torah Congregation of Stoughton has a newly-named religious school, combining its school with that of Temple Beth Am in Randolph, starting in September, 2012. The new school is named B'Yachad South Area Religious School. B'Yachad meaning “Together," symbolic of the merging and collaboration of the two synagogues' religious schools, staff and curriculum. The religious education merger is a way to save costs and deal with declining enrollment for the two Hebrew Schools. There are no plans at the moment, however, to merge the Stoughton and Randolph congregations. B'Yachad South Area Religious School will offer a two day per week schedule, and caters to preschool age to grade 7. Classes meet on Sundays …

Sorry about that Jeff, but most impressed that you take note and respond. Just my 2 cents, but I just don't see how someone shot in Attleboro is in anyway pertinent to local Stoughton news. I don't even think I read that piece in the Globe? Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I perceive the Patch as local access news/information and Attleboro must be 20 miles and 4 towns distant. more ›
