MURDER AT THE LIBRARY ENCORE: A mystery theatre presentation which took place Jan. 18 before a sold out audience at Stoughton's Town Hall is now available on DVD and can be seen on local cable TV. LETTER: Murder Mystery Fundraiser in Stoughton a "Huge Success"

Stoughton Library Director Pat Basler thanks those involved with the "Murder at the Library" production, a fundraiser for Stoughton's Support Our Library Association, held Friday evening, Jan. 18 at Stoughton's Town Hall.

The Great Hall at Stoughton's Town Hall was packed Friday night, Jan. 18 for a sellout performance of the "Murder at the Library" production, a fundraiser for Stoughton's Support Our Library Association (SOLA). The following is a letter of thanks from Pat Basler, Director, Stoughton Public Library (click here to view a photo gallery of the production):   To the Editor:   The Stoughton Public Library Board of Trustees and I would like to thank the many people and groups that participated in the first "Murder Mystery at the Library" fundraiser last Friday night.  This murder mystery spoof was a huge success on many levels.  It brought over 200 people out on a Friday night in January to enjoy amateur comedy in the beautiful Great Hall of Town…

MURDER AT TOWN HALL!  Tickets have just gone on sale for the Support Our Library Association (SOLA) fundraising theatrical production in January, titled "Murder at the Library." This "Murder at the Library" will actually be held at the Great Hall on the third floor of Town Hall on Friday, January 18 (with a snow date of the January 25.)  The fun starts at 7 p.m. There is limited seating, so get your tickets early! Tickets are $15 before December 15, and $20 per ticket after that, and at the door (if available). This murder mystery is for those over 21, as beer and wine will be available for purchase. Snacks will also be available. SUPPORT YOUR LIBRARY! The first Annual Meeting of Support Our Library Association, Inc. (SOLA) will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Wales French Room of the Stoughton Public Library. Nominations for Officers and Directors will be presented, and nominations will be allowed from the membership. Elections will take place for the 2013 year. There will also be a recap of the first year’s activities, and a presentation of upcoming events and expenditures. Support Our Library Association, Inc. is a non-profit corporation, with IRS 501(c) 3 status, formed for the purpose of raising funds to support programs and services of the Stoughton Public Library. The public is welcome to attend this meeting, and join the Association…

  MURDER IN THE LIBRARY? Actually, the "murder" will be taking place at Town Hall, if Dori Frankel has anything to say about it. Frankel went to the Selectmen's meeting Tuesday night requesting to hold a "Murder In the Library" scripted theater event at the Town Hall on Jan. 18, 2013 as a fundraiser for Support Our Library Association, Inc. (SOLA). The SOLA group, a 501C3 nonprofit organization formed in October of 2011, is replacing the Friends of Stoughton Public Library, as the fundraising arm of the Park Street library. Frankel would like to see this murder-mystery take place in the Great Hall, on the third floor of the Town Hall. The theatrical production will include a cast of eight played by well-known "characters" in the Stoughton …

SUPPORT OUR LIBRARY ASSOCIATION (SOLA) announces its formation as a 501(c)3 non-profit entity in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  SOLA was formed as a required fundraising and support arm of the planned Stoughton Public Library expansion. “As part of the public library construction grant application, we need to show strong community support,” explained Pat Basler, Stoughton’s Library Directory.  “And SOLA will do just that,” she continued. The Library expansion plan was overwhelmingly approved by Town Meeting in May 2011. Back in July 2011, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners asked the town to send in revisions of the redesign by January of 2012 due to concerns regarding the internal layout of the proposed building, putting…
