The Stoughton Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire on Park St. on May 1. There were no injuries, but multiple people were displaced, including four children.
Article updated at 1 p.m. on May 1: An early morning fire at a multi-family home on Park Street in Stoughton has displaced 17 people, including an infant, Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff said. The SFD received a call at 1:22 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1 for a smell of smoke at 34/36 Park St. in Stoughton, in what ended up being a three-alarm blaze. There were heavy fire conditions in this large 2.5 story wood frame structure, according to the Stoughton Fire Department's Facebook page. It took about three hours to knock down the fire. While five families were displaced, there were no reports of injuries to civilians or to the crews that responded, according to SFD Captain Doug Campbell. Campbell said all residents self-evacuated. WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR STOUGHTON'S FIRE VICTIMS: While the adjusters are assessing the losses, Andrea Cooper and her family, the victims of Saturday’s house fire in Stoughton, are in immediate need of clothing and toiletries for daily living. Rabbi Jonathan Hausman of Ahavath Torah Congregation is hoping the community will donate to the three generations of the Cooper family living in the Winfisky Drive house that was totally destroyed by the fire. There will be a collection at the Temple office on Central Street in Stoughton. Donations may either be in cash or gift certificates for clothing stores (Old Navy, The Gap, LL Bean, Kohl's, Macy's, Walmart, Target), drug stores (Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreen), as well as other local vendors. A Stoughton home on Winfisky Dr. is deemed a “total loss” by Stoughton Fire Chief Mark Dolloff after a heavy fire damaged the structure Saturday afternoon. The fire started at 2:01 p.m. at 49 Winfisky Dr., located in a neighborhood off Bay Rd in Stoughton. Stoughton, along with four other nearby towns responded to the scene. A total of six people live in the home. All five residents home at the time of the fire were able to make it out safely, as were the family’s four dogs. The home is owned by Andrea Cooper, a social worker with the Norfolk County Sherriff’s Department.
