Stoughton Selectmen Chair Stagnone Won't Seek Reelection; Announces Plans to Lease Theatre
Selectmen Chair John Stagnone made the announcement that he won't seek reelection at Tuesday night's Selectmen's meeting. He and his wife have entered into a lease of the State Theatre building with the plans to renovate and reopen the downtown landmark.
John Stagnone, chairman of the Stoughton Board of Selectmen, announced at Tuesday night's selectmen's meeting that he would not be seeking reelection to the Board in this upcoming April's Town Election. While not running again, Stagnone, also the president of Stoughton Media Access Corporation (SMAC), still plans to be visible in town. Stagnone said he and his wife, Roberta, have entered into a long-term 20-year lease of the State Theatre building on Washington Street. Stagnone, first elected to the Board in 2010, has served as chairman since April of 2011. His three-year term expires in April 2013.
