Robert O’Regan and Cynthia Walsh, the two winners in the four-candidate selectmen’s race in the April 10 Town Election, were both sworn-in on April 17. John Stagnone was reelected as the Board’s chair, while Walsh was selected to be the vice chair.
For the second consecutive year, John Stagnone has been voted chairman of the Stoughton Board of Selectmen by his peers. In what was a 3-2 vote in 2011, with Stagnone edging John Anzivino for the position, Stagnone was reelected as chair by a unanimous 5-0 vote Tuesday night. Newly elected selectman Bob O’Regan nominated Stagnone. There were no other nominations for chairman. Selectman Cynthia Walsh, who just won another three-year term on the board in the April 10 Stoughton town election, was unanimously elected as vice chair. There were no other nominations for vice chair. John Anderson, who lost his bid for re-election on April 10, had previously served in that capacity. Walsh served as vice chair before that. Stagnone thanked Anderson …

NATIONAL GRIDLOCK SENDS US BACK TO THE STONE AGE: National Grid Spokesperson Debbie Drew told About Town after she was asked about the consecutive Saturday outages, "We try our best to give customers good service." That was her response to my question, "Should Stoughton residents plan Saturday night dates with a flashlight and a book?" "Then, to assure the safety of firefighters trying to extinguish the blaze, we shut service to the line nearest that pole," she said. That …

Five of eight precincts have less than the minimum number of candidates running for a seat as a Town Meeting representative. Stoughton’s Annual Town Election is Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
On the eve of the Annual Town Election, there is a shortage of candidates for Town Meeting representative, with five of Stoughton’s eight precincts having less than the minimum number of candidates. Each precinct is designed to have 21 representatives, with 168 representatives in all. But only 148 residents will be listed on the ballot. The Annual Town Election is Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Because of redistricting, all 168 Town Meeting representative seats are up for election this year, even those seats that were up for election just a year ago. Normally a Town Meeting representative is elected to a three-year term, and only seven of the 21 seats are up at a time. But, with every seat up for election, the seven highest vote-getters in each …
