The Stoughton Quilters meet Thursdays at the Stoughton Senior Center. The raffle, which will benefit the Senior Center, will take place at the end of April. In the meantime, the quilt will be on display at the Stoughton Public Library.
The following is submitted by the Stoughton Quilters group: The Stoughton Quilters who meet at the Senior Center once a week (Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.) appreciate the help that the staff gives to them. One way they chose to show that appreciation was to raffle a queen size quilt with the proceeds being donated to the Senior Center. The quilt hung at the Quilter's Boutique in November at the Senior Center and will hang at the Stoughton Public Library for viewing during March and April. Memories Road Show, sponsored by the University of Massachusetts Boston, on Sunday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stoughton Senior Center at 110 Rockland Street. Although the event is months away, volunteers are needed NOW. Do you live or work in Stoughton? The history of Stoughton is YOUR STORY. Bring one to three photos of any format and they will scan and return them to you right there. If hundreds of people come to this event, then we'll create a very effective snapshot of Stoughton in 2013. Both public forums will take place Monday evening, Jan. 28 at the Stoughton Senior Center.
Stoughton residents interested in playing a part in shaping the town's future, are invited to a pair of public forums scheduled for Monday, Jan. 28, 2013 at the Stoughton Senior Center at 110 Rockland St. The first is a Stoughton Master Plan public forum from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m, followed by an Informational Town Meeting from 8:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. The Master Plan public forum will be the last in what was a series of public meetings focused on finalizing a vision for Stoughton's future. The Stoughton Master Plan Committee will be presenting the draft vision, goals and key issues surrounding the Master Plan for your input. The following is a press release from Stoughton Town Planner Noreen O’Toole: On Monday, January 28 at 6 p.m. at the Stoughton Senior Center, 110 Rockland Street, the Town will host a public meeting to present and receive public comment on the draft vision, goals, and key issues of Phase One of the Town’s new Master Plan. The Forum is the second of two major public meetings which is part of the planning process to create a town-wide Master Plan. The Plan will identify policies, regulations and initiatives needed to guide future changes in the community. STOUGHTON SALUTES ITS VETERANS: The Veterans Day Parade began exactly at 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 11 from VFW Post 1645 on Washington Street. The Town Hall ceremony started about 15 minutes later, and featured the patriotic music of the award-winning Stoughton High School Marching Band, an excellent speech by Stoughton Veterans Agent and Vietnam Veteran Mike Pazyra, and a wreath laying at the Memorial Bell. Of course, there was also the reading of the names of every Stoughton soldier who gave their lives for their country in America's wars. World War II veteran Charlie Large, who has been reading the names for many years, is ailing and living in a Norwood nursing facility. Stepping in was retired Veterans Agent and Vietnam Vet Paul …

VETERANS DAY PARADE: The Annual Stoughton Veterans Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. sharp from VFW Post 1645 on Washington Street on Sunday, Nov. 11. The parade will proceed through the square to the Stoughton Town Hall via Washington, School and Pearl Streets for a ceremony and wreath laying at the Memorial Bell. The parade will then reform on Pearl Street and proceed back through the square to Faxon Veterans Memorial Park (across from the library near the Charles Large Gazebo) for two ceremonies at the two memorials there. The parade will then proceed down Walnut Street to Washington Street and go back to the VFW for a collation. The entire parade will be approximately one and one-half hours.
