The O’Donnell Middle School Wednesday Jazz Band and 6th Grade Jazz Band were honored for their performances at the recent MAJE Middle School Jazz Festival, a regional competition held at Stoughton High.
The following is from the Stoughton Public Schools Music Department: The Stoughton Public Schools Music Department hosted the 2013 MAJE Middle School Jazz Festival on Thursday, May 9 at Stoughton High School. This festival was sponsored by the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education. Middle school bands from Stoughton, Mattapoisett, Easton, Hull, East Bridgewater, Norwood, Rochester, Medfield, Needham and Foxborough attended this year's festival. The OMS 6th Grade Jazz Band directed by Ann Dorgan received a Silver Medal for their strong performance. Eleven music students - eight from the O'Donnell Middle School and three from Stoughton High School - recently participated in the 2013 Southeastern Massachusetts School Bandmasters Association Honors Festival.

The festival was held at Rockland School on Saturday, May 4. Stoughton High School Freshman Connor Nye performed with the Honors Orchestra. Trumpeter Hannah Peterson and trombonist Adam Potter, also freshmen at SHS, performed with the Honors Concert Band. The Stoughton Public Schools Music Department held its 2013 Singers Night Concert March 22 at the Stoughton High auditorium. The concert featured the Stoughton High Concert Choir, SHS Jazz Choir and the O'Donnell Middle School 8th Grade Chorus. A number of SHS vocal students also performed solos or duets including Kimara Merceron, Abbie Roane, Maggie Widberg, Ilisa Flum, Katherine Scabia, Dan Block, Olivia Quattrucci, Caroline Cusack, Becky Detore, Kassandra Melo, Jess Morse, Christina Solem, Tessa McKeen, Nzinga Moore, Ella Viera, Sierra Watson, Jackie Hausman, Corey Shore and Amber Ais. The 2013 Evening of Jazz, featuring musicians from Stoughton High and the O’Donnell Middle School, will be held March 13 at the Stoughton High auditorium.
The following is from the Stoughton Public Schools Music Department: The Stoughton Public Schools Music Department will present its 2013 Evening of Jazz on Wednesday, March 13. The concert will feature the O’Donnell Middle School 6th Grade Jazz Band, Tuesday Jazz Band and the Wednesday Jazz Band. The concert will also feature the Stoughton High School Tuesday and Wednesday Jazz Bands, the SHS Jazz Choir and Jazz Combo. The O'Donnell Middle School Jazz Bands and Drum Club had a concert on June 4.
The O'Donnell Middle School hosted a concert for its jazz bands and Drum Club Monday, June 4 in the school's cafeteria. The 6th Grade Jazz Band, under the direction of Stephen Dorgan, the Tuesday and Wednesday Jazz Bands, under the direction John Kerns, and the Drum Club, under the direction of Andrew Davey, all performed. The following is a release from the Stoughton Public Schools Music Department: The O'Donnell Middle School Jazz Bands recently participated in the 2012 Southeast District MAJE Middle School Jazz Festival held at Stoughton High School on Thursday, May 3.
