MASTER PLAN PHASE ONE CLOSES OUT: On Monday evening (Jan. 28) at the Stoughton Senior Center, the Town of Stoughton’s Master Plan Committee hosted a public meeting to present and receive public comment on the draft vision, goals, and key issues of Phase One of the Town’s new Master Plan. Master Plan Committee Chair Joseph Scardino welcomed the crowd, which filled the large conference room on a cold and snowy night. He said, “Thanks for coming despite the weather. It’s nice to see everyone getting involved with the Master Plan Committee.” He then introduced Sue Brown of Brown Walker Planners. Brown said that the Youth Focus Group listed “people and sports” as the best of what Stoughton has to offer. On their importance list, they …

The following is a press release from Stoughton Town Planner Noreen O’Toole: On Monday, January 28 at 6 p.m. at the Stoughton Senior Center, 110 Rockland Street, the Town will host a public meeting to present and receive public comment on the draft vision, goals, and key issues of Phase One of the Town’s new Master Plan. The Forum is the second of two major public meetings which is part of the planning process to create a town-wide Master Plan. The Plan will identify policies, regulations and initiatives needed to guide future changes in the community. RESIDENTS TURN OUT FOR MASTER PLAN VISIONING: Over 100 residents came to contribute their thoughts on a vision for Stoughton's future Monday night when the Stoughton Master Plan Committee hosted a Public Forum at the Stoughton Senior Center. A light dinner was served and Joe Scardino, Chairman of the Master Plan Committee and the Planning Board, introduced Interim Town Manager Joseph D. Faster, Jr., and then Sue Brown hosted a review of the "Community Snapshot" (compiled by the Town's consultants, her company, Brown Walker Planners). The snapshot provided some very interesting information on our town. The crowd was divided into smaller groups for discussion. The following is a press release from Stoughton Town Planner Noreen O’Toole: On Monday, October 15 at 6 p.m. the Town of Stoughton will host a public meeting at the Stoughton Senior Center, 110 Rockland Street to provide information and gather community input for the Town’s new Master Plan. The Public Forum is part of the Town’s planning process to create a town-wide Master Plan. The Plan will help the town identify policies, regulations and initiatives needed to guide changes in the community. The Town has retained the services of a professional planning team led by Brown Walker Planners of Newburyport to complete Phase One of the Master Plan focusing on creating a “community vision” and identifying “key issues” the town is facing. …

STOUGHTON HAS BIG PLANS! The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce hosted a dinner meeting at Courtyard by Marriott Thursday night, with Stoughton officials and the business community gathering to talk about this town's future. With delicious food from Smokey Bones Restaurant in their bellies, and interesting food for thought in their minds, the crowd heard from a number of speakers about Stoughton's Master Plan, and then split into small groups to tackle a number of questions supplied by Juliet Walker and Sue Brown of Brown Walker Planners in Newburyport. TOWN PLANNING & GOOD FOOD FEATURED: The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce, Courtyard by Marriott, Smokey Bones Restaurant, and the Town of Stoughton come together on Thursday, September 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Courtyard by Marriott’s location on Technology Drive. A MASTER PLAN UNDERWAY: The Stoughton Town Master Plan "Public Education and Visioning" is now under way. You might remember that Town Meeting on May 9th voted to add $75,000 to the Planning Board budget to help pay for the Town's Master Plan. $50,000 was included in the 2012 budget for it, and Town Planner Noreen O'Toole said that they were contracting soon for Phase I and needed more money for Phase II of the Master Plan in the 2013 budget. O'Toole said that Phase I was "Public Education and Visioning." Phase II is a variety of components, and the final step of the plan is implementing those components. For those who don't know, the Master Plan is the Holy Grail for the Town of Stoughton. The town's newest Selectmen, Robert O'Regan, ran …

I've yet to visit the Town's "dump" where I or anyone around me has been asked to show an ID confirming residency. I know for a fact the recycling center is used by people of other towns. Why is this being allowed?   more ›
