Feaster Sworn-In as Stoughton’s Interim Town Manager [VIDEO]

Joseph Feaster was sworn-in as Stoughton’s Interim Town Manager during a ceremony at Town Hall on April 3.

  Attorney Joseph D. Feaster, Jr. was sworn in as Stoughton’s Interim Town Manager Tuesday evening at town hall before a room full of supporters, including family, friends, neighbors, government officials and town department heads. Town Clerk Cheryl Mooney administered the oath of office. Feaster’s wife, Phyllis, was at his side holding the bible. Bishop John M. Borders offered a benediction. “This is an awesome responsibility but I intend to carry it out and I am prepared to do so,” Feaster said in his remarks after taking the oath. “I’m going to hit the ground running,” he added. Feaster, who spent last week transitioning with former town manager Francis T. Crimmins, Jr., became the Stoughton Interim Town Manager on April 1. He has …

Board of Selectmen Meeting The Stoughton Board of Selectmen meet Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall (third floor, Great Hall). The Board starts in executive session, which is closed to the public. As Town Manager Francis T. Crimmins, Jr. is set to step down on March 31, department heads joined their boss at a luncheon in his honor at LaStoria on Washington St., on the afternoon of March 29. The department heads in Town remain solidly behind Crimmins and have already voiced their concern about the future of Stoughton without him in the top seat. Their letter, dated February 17th and sent to Selectman Chairman John Stagnone and the Board of Selectmen, made a request to "bring about a reconsideration of the recent resignation of Town Manager, Frank Crimmins." The letter went about to say, "During the past two years, Frank has instituted many dramatic and profound changes within Town government. Although there has been periodic …

ABOUT TOWN: Stoughton Selectmen Approve Contract for Interim Town Manager Joseph Feaster

Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Stoughton Board of Selectmen were still trying to negotiate an interim town manager contract with Stoughton resident Joseph D. Feaster, Jr.  Selectmen had hoped to have him start on Monday, March 26, but he will instead begin Wednesday, March 28. The final details of the contract were negotiated in Executive Session last night and just after 8:15 p.m. the Board of Selectmen voted 3-0 (John Anzivino, John Stagnone and Cynthia Walsh) to approve the Interim Town Manager contract for Mr. Feaster. John Anderson abstained. Steve Anastos wasn't there to vote. It was a great birthday present for Mr. Feaster! About Town learned from Chairman Stagnone that the contract pays an annualized salary of $140,000 and was from March …

UPDATE: Board of Selectmen Vote Stoughton Resident to be Interim Town Manager

After interviewing two candidates Thursday night, Selectmen voted 2-1 to offer the position of Interim Town Manager to Stoughton resident Joseph Feaster.

Stoughton resident Joseph Feaster originally submitted an application to serve on the Town Manager search committee. Instead, he decided to apply to be the Interim Town Manager. Now, after a 2-1 vote by the Board of Selectmen Thursday night, Feaster is in position to become the Interim Town Manager when current Town Manager Francis T. Crimmins, Jr. departs on March 31. Crimmins, who has served as Town Manager since February of 2010, submitted a resignation letter in January of this year, indicating his intent to resign at the end of March 2012. Feaster, a Stoughton resident for the past 14 years, has been practicing law for more than three decades. He pointed to his experience as interim administrator on the Boston Housing Authority (1995-…

March 13: Stoughton Board of Selectmen and School Committee Agendas

Both Boards meet Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m.

The Stoughton Board of Selectmen and the Stoughton School Committee both meet Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. The Selectmen meet in the Yaitanes Room on the third floor of Town Hall. Public Interviews with candidates for interim Town Manager (John Sanguinet and Joseph Feaster) are among the items listed on the agenda. The School Committee meets in the television studio at Stoughton High. Updates on a feasibility study, procurement and the Stoughton High principal search are among the topics on the agenda.
