The Human Resources position has been vacant since April when Martin McNamara was named Town Administrator in Boylston. McNamara was the first HR director for the newly created department. Stoughton's Procurement Officer Latest Department Head to Announce Resignation

Lindsay Pope will resign as Stoughton's Acting Chief Procurement Officer effective August 3. She is the third department head to leave since March.

Lindsay Pope, Stoughton's Acting Chief Procurement Officer, has submitted a letter of resignation, effective Aug. 3, 2012, she told Stoughton Patch. Pope has served as the centralized purchasing officer for the Town since being hired in October of 2011. "I don't have any comment; I'm just trying to leave quietly," she said.  Shortly after being hired Pope soon found herself as one of the central figures in the procurement dispute between the town and the school department.  Pope departs to become the procurement officer for another Boston-area community.  According to her bio, Pope "has worked for the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, Department of Revenue, UMASS Boston, and the Town of Stoughton all in procurement and contract …

About Town has learned that Stoughton's Human Resources Director Martin McNamara has been named the new Town Administrator Boylston, MA. He was unanimously voted into the position by their Board of Selectmen. Kenneth G. Sydow, chairman of the Boylston Board of Selectmen, called Mr. McNamara after the meeting to inform him of the board's decision. Sydow told the Worcester Telegram, “He's excited, and we're excited too. There are a lot of things we talked about [during his interview] that we are looking forward to working on.”   McNamara will be ironing out the final details of his contract next Tuesday night.  Then, he'll be giving Stoughton his official notice. ABOUT TOWN: Stoughton HR Director McNamara Finalist for Boylston Town Administrator Job

(Updated at 9 a.m. on April 7.) About Town has learned that Stoughton's Human Resources Director Martin McNamara is one of three finalists for the Town Administrator job in Boylston, MA. He told the Boylston selectmen that the Stoughton job was his first municipal one, and that he enjoyed it. According to The Banner, McNamara said that after being laid off in the private sector, he was hired by Stoughton, where he said he enjoys the work, and wants to continue in municipal management. But, citing his experience as a Selectman in Clinton, and the difference in size from Stoughton to Boylston, he added he was a "small town type of guy." McNamara was hired by former Town Manager Francis T. Crimmins, Jr., who attempted to get McNamara named …

Boylston abuts Clinton, while Stoughton is well over an hour drive from McNamara's home. Makes sense he'd pursue the job, which also pays more. A candidate's commute is a legitimate concern and should be a consideration in their employment evaluation. Who wants a long commute?   more ›
