The Warriors got wins in 10 of 14 matches to beat the Black Knights, 51-21.
At the end of the day, the score sheet will show a convincing win for the Foxboro High wrestling team over Stoughton. What will not be there is how Stoughton made Foxboro earn the win with close scores and back and forth battles. Even with two forfeits, the Warriors (7-4) got past the Black Knights (2-5), 51-21, Wednesday evening in Foxboro. The Warriors took the first of their 10 match wins after Jamie Pecoraro pinned Brad Allen at 1:24 of the first period in the 106-pound match after Pecoraro was able to turn a bulldog into the opening pin of the meet. OA earns hard-fought win over Davenport rival Stoughton Wednesday night in Easton.
Oliver Ames came into Wednesday’s home meet against the Stoughton High wrestling team without seniors Matt Harding and Nick Hutchinson, who were nursing injuries. What started out as a concern for OA coach Adam Pomella turned into a hard-fought 57-18 victory over an improved Stoughton squad at the Nixon Gymnasium. “I’m psyched about the outcome,” Pomell said. “We had a couple of 50-50 matchups that our kids won and what won it for us was the depth.” Even without Harding and Hutchinson, OA showed its depth in many of those “50-50” matchups as Pomella alluded to. The first four matches were an indication of that. In the 106 matchup, OA senior Tim Gover defeated Stoughton freshman Brandon Allen via pinfall in the opening bout. The Black …
