Photos and video by Justin Braga; brief by Stoughton Patch editor Jeffrey Pickette Down 24-15 after Canton recorded four consecutive pins, the Stoughton High wrestling team fought back, taking five of the final six matches, beating the Bulldogs, 45-30, Wednesday at SHS on what was senior night for the Black Knights. Brett Layton (113), Brandon Layton (120), Mikey Cardoso (126), Mike Carroll (160), Stefanos Kampouris (170), Joey Girolamo (182), Scott Camuso-Sullivan (220) and Bryan Nguyen (heavyweight) all recorded individual match wins for Stoughton. Cardoso, Kampouris, Camuso-Sullivan, along with fellow seniors Mike Dixon and Nick Michienzi were all honored before the start of the match as part of Stoughton's Senior Night ceremony. …

Seven Stoughton wrestlers placed at this season's Hockomock League Chamipmship meet, while the team came in 5th overall.
The Stoughton High wrestling team finished fifth out of 12 teams at the 2012-2013 Hockomock League Wrestling Championships held this past Sunday at Franklin High School, with seven individual wrestlers placing in the top six of their respective weight classes. Rob Mone (152) and Bryan Nguyen (heavyweight) advanced to the finals of their weight classes, with each coming in second. The following Stoughton wrestlers also placed: Stoughton had finished in last place at the Hockomock League championships in each of the previous three seasons, according to results posted on the MassWrestling website, but proved to be one of the more competitive teams in the league this season and as a result had a much-improved showing at the Hockomock …

The win over Foxborough comes on the heels of Stoughton's second place finish out of 20 teams at the Northbridge Tournament Jan. 12. Photo highlights from the Stoughton High wrestling team's win at Oliver Ames on Jan. 9.
After a series of 14 mostly back-and-forth matches, the Stoughton High wrestling team finished tied, 27-27, with Oliver Ames Wednesday at OA, but Stoughton was declared winner of the meet after the Black Knights took eight individual matches to OA's six. Stoughton jumped out to a 15-6 lead, winning three of the first four matches - Nick Michienzi (170), Joey Girolamo (182), Stephen Stenstrom (195) and Bryan Nguyen at the heavyweight class. Stenstrom recorded a pin for his victory. Stoughton extended the lead to 21-12 with wins by Devlin Carroll (113) and Brandon Layton (120). Photos by Justin Braga; Article by Stoughton Patch editor Jeffrey Pickette: In a back and forth meet, Sharon edged the Stoughton High wrestling team by a score of 43-32 Jan. 3 at the Sharon High gym. Stoughton got off to a quick start with Brett Layton (106), Devlin Carroll (113) and Brandon Layton (120) all winning their respective matches, giving Stoughton an early 15-0 lead. Sharon then took the next four matches, taking a 19-15 lead. Stoughton took two out of the three matches which followed, with Rob Mone (152) and Nick Michienzi (170) picking up wins to give Stoughton a 26-25 lead. The Stoughton High wrestling team started the season off with a 39-27 win over Mansfield Dec. 12 at home. 2012-2013 Stoughton High Winter Sports Preview: Looking at the wrestling team.
The Stoughton High wrestling team will look to turn in a strong season in the Hockomock's Davenport Division. The team will look to reload after loosing a strong core of seniors including Andrew Paredes, who was one of the most dominant wrestlers in the state at the heavyweight division. Stoughton will look to this current group of seniors as well as some younger talent to step in this year and give the Knights some successful performances on the mat. Highlights from the Hockomock League Wrestling Championship and Stoughton High’s Senior Night.
For the second consecutive year, Stoughton High’s Andrew “Paco” Paredes finished first in the Hockomock League Heavyweight wrestling championships, held last Saturday at North Attleboro High School. Stephen Colling came in third in the 113-pound class, while Sean Flaherty finished fourth in the 182-pound class. All three are seniors and will be advancing to the sectional tournament. The Stoughton High Wrestling team beat King Philip 42-40 on Wednesday, with the Black Knights picking up their third win this season. Stoughton received individual wins from Stephen Colling, Mike Cardoso, Spencer Dennis, Kevin Richard, Sean Flaherty and Bryan Nguyen. Photos of Stoughton wrestlers at the 2012 Brookline Warrior Freshman Duals. Patrick Ferzoco from Catholic Memorial and Bryan Nguyen from Stoughton High were Stoughton's top performers.
Stoughton High sent seven wrestlers to the 2012 Brookline Warrior Freshman Duals on Sunday, with Bryan Nguyen the top performer, finishing third in his weight class. Nguyen lost his first match, but rebounded to win the next three. Brandon Cohen (4th), Stephen Stenstrom (4th), Mike Carroll (5th) and Brad Allen (4th) all placed in their respective weight class. Jake Swartz and Tom Mone also competed for Stoughton High. Stoughton’s Patrick Ferzoco, a freshman wrestler at Catholic Memorial, placed 1st in his weight class, going 3-0 on the day.
