Gallery: Stoughton High National Honor Society Induction Ceremony (2012)

The Stoughton High NHS chapter added 35 new members during Wednesday night's ceremony held at the high school auditorium.

Stoughton High honored not only some of its most successful students, but accomplished and well-rounded individuals Wednesday night, at the annual National Honor Society induction ceremony, held in the SHS auditorium. A combined 35 students - 22 juniors and 13 seniors - were inducted into the Stoughton High chapter of the National Honor Society. They join the 27 current members of the Stoughton High NHS, who were inducted last year. Members of the Stoughton High NHS "have a minimum of a B+ average, defined as an average of 3.3 on a 4.3 scale," according to the school's handbook. But scholarship is just one part of National Honor Society. Membership in NHS is based upon achieving excellence in scholarship, leadership, service and overall …

NEARLY 300 SENIORS FEAST FOR THREE DOLLARS! Stoughton's Friends for Seniors held their 2012 Annual Spring Dinner on Saturday, May 19, in the basement hall at the Immaculate Conception Church. Seniors paid only $3 for tickets!  Friends for Seniors President Bob Mullen (who doubles as President of the Stoughton Lions Club and Stoughton's Deputy Moderator at Town Meeting in his spare time.) presented Friends for Seniors Scholarships to Rebecca Goldberg of the Stoughton High National Honor Society ($500); …

AMAZING CHRISTMAS DINNER: Stoughton's senior citizens were treated to an amazing Christmas dinner Saturday afternoon, and the cost was a mere three dollars.  It comes from the hard work—and monetary contribution of a great organization called Stoughton Friends for Seniors.   Their President, Dennis McCarthy, thanked all the volunteers from his hard-working Board for once again presenting a delicious meal, raffles, and fun to a sold-out crowd of hundreds of Stoughton Seniors in the downstairs hall of the Immaculate Conception Church. The youth of the Town were also involved in a big way. More than 30 members of the National Honor Society at Stoughton High came to serve on Saturday, while nearly twenty came the night before to set up the …

Stoughton High National Honor Society Inducts Well-Rounded Group of Leaders

The Stoughton High NHS chapter added 39 new members during Wednesday night's ceremony, and inducted seven honorary members, comprised of current and former Stoughton educators.

“Always do more than is required of you,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marguerite Rizzi said, quoting General George S. Patton. But she told this year’s inductees to the Stoughton High chapter of the National Honor Society that this was something they already knew—and something they already did. The 39 students —27 juniors and 12 seniors— who were inducted into NHS during a ceremony held in the SHS auditorium Wednesday night, achieved success in and out of the classroom, as honor roll students, sports captains and class officers; as section leaders in band, editors of the school paper and volunteers in various religious groups; and as peer mediators, camp counselors and youth sports coaches.  “You have emerged here as leaders,” Principal …
