Text by Jeffrey Pickette; photos by Justin Braga: The Stoughton High football team, playing in memory of teammate David Wade, a senior who tragically died on Sept. 29, came away with a 20-0 win over Foxborough, Friday night in Stoughton, improving to 5-0 on the season. Stoughton scored just four plays into the game, a 40-yard touchdown run by Marcus Middleton. Imani Pina recovered a Foxborough fumble in the endzone just before the half to put Stoughton up 14-0 and quarterback Dan Eckler found Middleton for a 67-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth. Stoughton's defense bent at times, but never broke, coming up with a number of key plays to keep Foxborough off the scoreboard. Friday also marked Stoughton High's annual Homecoming …

The Stoughton High Marching Band and Color Guard has its first competition of the 2012 season Sept. 29 in Melrose.
The award-winning Stoughton High School Marching Band has high expectations heading into competition season. Led by new music teacher Mr. John Mange, the Marching Knights will look to regain their title from a couple of years ago, as the best Marching Band in the state. Mr. Mange talked to us about his goals and expectations heading into the new season: "At the end of the first week of band camp, we sat down as a group and brainstormed a list of goals for the season together," Mange said. "I am very pleased with the goals that the band members suggested - some of my favorites were 'developing pride'; 'improving after each show'; 'being consistent and focused'; and 'producing a competitive result.' Andrew Kelly had a touchdown catch (from quarterback Dan Eckler); Malachi Baugh had a long TD run; Frankie Morris had two rushing touchdowns; Aaron Mack caught a 2-point conversion pass from Eckler; and Baugh (fumble recovery) Marcus Middleton (interception) and Lennox Green (interception) had big plays on defense. The band received a Gold Medal at the NESBA finals this past Sunday.
The Stoughton High marching band and color guard had another gold medal performance, this one coming this past Sunday, Nov. 6 in Lawrence at the NESBA finals. The marching Black Knights received a score of 94.5. Earlier this season, on Oct. 22, the band received a Gold Medal at a NESBA competition in Reading. The next day, on Oct. 23, the band received another Gold Medal at the MICCA Championship competition held in Lowell. The band and color guard’s performance theme this year is the “British Invasion.” The band and color guard will be performing at the Veterans’ Day parade on Friday, Nov. 11, at the football game against Oliver Ames that same night, and at Canton on Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 24. The Stoughton High Marching Band earned first place honors last weekend at the NESBA competition in North Andover on Oct. 15 and at the MICCA competition in Norwood on Oct. 16. This weekend, the Marching Black Knights earned a Gold Medal at their NESBA competition in Reading on Saturday. On Sunday, the band competes in the MICCA State Finals in Lowell. KNIGHTS KEEP UP WINNING WAYS! Last weekend, the Stoughton Black Knights Marching Band came in first place in North Andover Division IV for the NESBA Competition and MICCA competition in Norwood. They got 4 and 5 stars (4 is Excellent and 5 is Superior)! This weekend is the State Finals. Their show this year is the "British Invasion" and is it awesome, according to many who have seen it!
