Stoughton High Cross Country Splits at Foxborough

The Black Knights are next in action Monday, Sept. 24 at Sharon.

The following Stoughton High cross country recap is courtesy of coach Harvey Blonder. The girls' and boys' teams competed at Foxborough Sept. 20: The Stoughton High girls' cross country team remained undefeated with a win over Foxborough, 25-31 (with the lower score prevailing). Amy Kelly won her second straight race finishing in 20:28 over the 5K course. Kelly faced stiff competition from Foxborough's Kayla Sepe through the first mile, but pulled away in the second mile and coasted to a 30 second victory. Kerry O'Neil (21:53) finished third overall and Susanna Noe (23:05) was fifth. Running strong to finish the scoring for the girls were Shannon Barkey (23:15) and Katie Daly (24:03) who both ran personal bests. Also running for the Black …

Sophomores Kelly, Lockhart Pace Stoughton High Cross Country Against Milford

The Stoughton High cross country teams split their first individual league meet of the season, with the girls' team picking up a win against Milford, and with the boys' team falling to the new Hockomock League Davenport Division foe.

The Stoughton High cross country teams were led by a pair of sophomores Tuesday at Houghton's Pond in the Black Knights' first individual league meet this season. The Stoughton girls defeated new Hockomock League Davenport Division rival Milford, 19-41, with the lower score prevailing. Stoughton had four of the top five finishers and nine of the top 12. Sophomore Amy Kelly finished the 5K (3.1-mile) course first in 21:09. It was the second best time for a Stoughton girl at Houghton's Pond since the Black Knights started competing there in 2007. Kerry O'Neil was second, finishing with a time of 22:21. Stoughton High Cross Country Ready for First League Meet of Season

After competing in a scrimmage and in the Hockomock League Jamboree, the SHS boys' and girls' cross country teams are set to face Milford Tuesday, September 11 at Houghton's Pond.

After a late August scrimmage and the September 5 Hockomock League Jamboree, the Stoughton High cross country teams will face new Davenport Division member Milford in Stoughton's first individual meet of the fall season, September 11 at Houghton's Pond. The SHS boys' team is led by captains Wayne Barnaby and Alec DeNapoli, while the girls' team is led by captains Kerry O'Neil and Susanna Noe. The Hockomock Jamboree was held at Borderland State Park in Easton and consisted of a series of 1.67 mile races. The girls team finished 6th overall out of 12 teams. In the first race senior Kerry O'Neil finished in 10:56. Amy Kelly won the second race in a time of 9:56. Carson McGrath ran the third race in 11:57. Kelly Barros ran in the fourth race …

The Stoughton High boys’ and girls’ cross country teams participated in the Division 3 Championship meet at Franklin Park on Saturday, Nov. 12. Nick Green led the boys’ team, turning in his best time on the course. He ran the Division 3 boys’ 5K race in 17:12 and finished 22nd overall in a field of 158 runners. On the girls’ side, Amy Kelly and Kerry O’Neil both finished in the top 25 out of 149 runners. Kelly, a freshman, finished 20th overall in the Division 3 girls’ 5K race with a time of 20:46. Green, Kelly, O’Neil Pace Stoughton High Cross Country Teams at D3 Championships

The Stoughton High boys’ and girls’ cross country teams took part in the 2011 MIAA Eastern Mass Division 3 Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park this past weekend.

The Stoughton High boys’ and girls’ cross country teams participated in the Division 3 Championship meet at Franklin Park on Saturday, with Nick Green leading the boys’ team, turning in his best time on the course, and with Amy Kelly and Kerry O’Neil leading the girls’ team, both finishing in the top 25 out of 149 runners. Green ran the Division 3 boys’ 5K race in 17:12 and finished 22nd overall in a field of 158 runners, but coach Harvey Blonder said it was a “bittersweet ending to his season.” “Despite running his best time (17:12) on the classic course and finishing 22nd overall he failed to advance to the all state meet due to a strong individual field,” Blonder said. “In every other division Nick's place or time would have qualified …

Stoughton High Cross Country Runners Take Part in MSTCA Invite

Amy Kelly and Kerry O’Neil medaled for the Stoughton girls’ team at the MSTCA Invite held this past Saturday. Several Stoughton boys’ also turned in solid efforts.

Another race, another medal for freshman Amy Kelly, this one coming at this past Saturday’s MSTCA Invitational in Wrentham. Kelly finished the freshmen 3K (1.9 mile) race in 12:45, finishing 8th overall in a field of 133. Kelly set a personal record on the course and earned a medal for her performance. Both boys’ and girls’ Stoughton High cross country teams took part in Saturday’s MSTCA Invitational in Wrentham. For some it was a final tune-up for the Division championships this upcoming Saturday at Franklin Park. For others, it was the final race of the season. Stoughton’s Kelly Finishes Eighth at Hockomock League Cross Country Championships

Kelly, a freshman, paced Stoughton in the girls’ race. Meanwhile, Nick Green led the boys’ team, finishing 14th overall in the boys’ race. The Stoughton girls’ team finished 5th overall out of 10 teams, while the boys’ team finished 9th out of 10 teams.

Stoughton High’s Amy Kelly continued her stellar debut season, finishing eighth overall at the girls’ varsity Hockomock League cross country championships, held this past Saturday at Borderland State Park in Easton, on a raw October day, with temperatures barely above 40 degrees. Kelly, a freshman, ran the 5K race in 20:13. It was her “best performance of the year” at that distance, Stoughton girls’ coach bob Clarke said. Kelly was the top freshman runner in the varsity race. The SHS girls’ team finished fifth overall in the 10-team championship meet, the second best showing for a Davenport Division team (small Hockomock), behind only Oliver Ames. Stoughton Cross Country Runners Find Success Under The Lights

Several Stoughton runners—boys and girls—recorded personal bests Saturday evening at the McIntyre Twilight Meet.

The Stoughton High boys’ and girls’ cross country teams took part in a rare evening race this past Saturday, competing at the McIntyre Twilight Meet at the Barnstable Fair grounds. Boys’ coach Harvey Blonder said it was reported that this meet was only the second time in the country a high school cross country race had been held under the lights. “The setting combined with good running weather and a fast course led to outstanding efforts across the board for the Black Knights,” Blonder said. On the boys’ side, Nick Green once again led the way, earning a medal for his 24th place performance. On the girls’ side, Amy Kelly and Kerry O’Neil paced Stoughton runners.
