STOUGHTON HAS BIG PLANS! With delicious food from Smokey Bones Restaurant in their bellies, and interesting food for thought in their minds, the crowd heard from a number of speakers about Stoughton's Master Plan, and then split into small groups to tackle a number of questions supplied by Juliet Walker and Sue Brown of Brown Walker Planners in Newburyport. Stoughton Chamber of Commerce member IKEA donated shelving to Stoughton's St. Anthony's Food Pantry last Thursday, and spent the day installing the units at the pantry, located on Park Ave.
The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce and its member businesses are known for supporting the Stoughton Food Pantries through its fundraising efforts such as the annual Doin’ It For Diane fundraiser. So the Chamber’s coordinated work with one of its Gold Members, IKEA-Stoughton, at the St. Anthony’s Food Pantry on Thursday, September 6 should come as no surprise. In fact, this project was a direct result of the Doin’ It For Diane Fundraiser. Christine Gallagher, manager of the St. Anthony’s Food Pantry on Park Ave., explained that when the funds were allocated from Doin' it For Diane between the two pantries (Ilse Marks and St. Anthony’s), each respective pantry was asked to provide a wish list. Gallagher said her pantry “desperately needed …

DiMatteo told About Town that he is excited about the new 15 seat dining area. The new seating area opened shortly after the Stoughton selectmen approved the plans back in April. He told the crowd, "We advocate for the communities. We try to get them funding for transportation studies, as well as traffic signals. We're waiting to hear from the Town of Stoughton to gain a consensus on different projects. For instance, traffic signals at York and Washington Streets. Does the town want signals there? We can help them obtain funds." As for bottlenecks and accidents, some Stoughton intersections …

TOWN NETS SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS AT AUCTION: The Town of Stoughton put four parcels up for auction on March 14, and came away with $60,000. Two of the parcels—a 10 acre lot on Central Street, across from the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, and a 2.5 acre lot on Sumner Street not far from Cedar Hill Golf Course—got bids that were not the minimum that Town Treasurer Donna Erickson, Town Manager Francis T. Crimmins, Jr. , and Town Counsel Jena Munoz were looking for. That figure on each was $100,000. A bid of $50,000 was received for the 10 acre parcel, for example. Two of the parcels were auctioned, however. A 3.6 acre parcel of vacant land on Central Street near the Brockton line, sold for $55,000 this year to Alfred J. Peterson, whose family owns…
