As part of his Eagle Scout project, Stoughton High senior Adam Lurie erected a flag pole at Frederick H. Pye Memorial Park at the intersection of Central and Canton Streets.
Frederick H. Pye Memorial Park at the intersection of Central and Canton Streets in Stoughton has a more patriotic look to it now, thanks to the town's newest Eagle Scout, Adam Lurie. Lurie, a senior at Stoughton High, and member of Boy Scout Troop 516,raised funds to erect a flag pole at the park as part of his Eagle Scout Project. He raised an American Flag, which now flies from the pole, at an unveiling ceremony last Monday afternoon, Nov. 12. A scout since first grade, Lurie said it took about four months of work and fundraising to complete the project. As part of his Eagle Scout project, Stoughton's John Stewart-Racicot of Boy Scout Troop 516 is planning to construct an entranceway and welcome sign to the Glen Echo property.
In his quest to earn his Eagle Scout Rank, Stoughton Boy Scout John Stewart-Racicot appeared before the Board of Selectmen this past Tuesday evening to seek approval for his service project design. His proposed 13.5 foot entranceway to Stoughton’s recently purchased Glen Echo property was well received by the Board. The entranceway will include a welcome sign as well, Stewart-Racicot said. And, he and his fellow Boy Scouts will help clear some of the trails there. Stewart-Racicot’s project, which took about one month to plan, is just one of the six criteria he must successfully complete to achieve the elite Eagle Scout status. Boy Scout Adam Lurie is selling personalized bricks to help fundraise for his Eagle Scout Project, erecting a flag pole at Frederick H. Pye Memorial Park in Stoughton. The bricks will be placed in a circle around the flag pole.
Thanks to Adam Lurie's Eagle Scout project, a flag pole will soon be erected at the Frederick H. Pye Memorial Park at the intersection of Central and Canton Streets. With an American Flag waving from the pole, it will create a patriotic scene for one of Stoughton's most traveled roadways. Lurie, a member of Boy Scout Troop 516, is currently fundraising for this project by selling personalized bricks to be placed in a circle around the flag pole at the park. The bricks are $35 each, Lurie said. There are three lines at 18 characters per line available for customization. Lurie will be a senior at Stoughton High in September.
