The company is holding discussions with labor representatives as the deadline for a three-year contract nears on Feb. 23.

Representatives of the Stop & Shop grocery store chain are looking to hire temporary replacement workers as it prepares for a potential labor strike, according to a report in the Boston Herald Friday.  The Quincy-based company is currently holding contract discussions with United Food and Commercial Workers Union locals who represent more than 40,000 Stop & Shop employees in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island, according to the Herald. The three-year contract will expire on Saturday, Feb. 23.  While discussions continue, the company is running eight hiring sites from Mansfield to Quincy to Woburn. Stoughton Chamber Posthumously Honors Havlin; Recognizes Award Winners for Service

The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting and awards ceremony Jan. 7 at the New England Sinai Hospital. The award recipients all play important roles in helping the food pantries in town.

Giving back to the food pantries has been a focus of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce and its member businesses be it through donations, helping to deliver food to the pantries, playing a key role in the annual Doin' It For Diane food pantry fundraiser, providing new shelving for the St. Anthony's Food Pantry, or even painting the exterior of the Ilse Marks Food Pantry. So, it is rather fitting that at the chamber's annual meeting, held at the New England Sinai Hospital's Brenner Conference Room Jan. 7, the group honored a number of individuals or businesses who have made a difference in the community, in part because of their work with the food pantries - Anne Havlin, Mark Snyder, Christine Gallagher, Jill O'Keefe, and Stop & Shop.  Anne…

Stoughton Food Pantry Shelves Stocked by Stoughton Chamber Elves

The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce helped transport donations from member businesses and the Stoughton High community and stock the shelves at Stoughton's food pantries.

The following is a press release from the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce: Last Monday, Terry Schneider, Executive Director of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce, received an e-mail from Patricia Small, nursing director of the the Stoughton Public Schools, that the annual collection of food from the high school students and staff, for the Ilse Marks Food Pantry & St. Anthony's Free Market, had been completed. Pat asked Schneider if the Chamber could come to their aid in moving the food from the nurses office to the pantries.  Knowing how much food was donated last year, Schneider and his Chamber Elves arrived with a pickup truck and an SUV and even that wasn't enough room, they had to use Schneider's car as well to transport the food. The …
