The home was adorned with photos that took guests from Jake's infancy to college. Many of the people pictured in these photos with him were crying uncontrollably near his open coffin. This great young man, and his wonderful family, had touched so many people that they were literally lined up around the building and down Park Street. The Archdiocese of Boston is taking steps to stop the spread of the flu.
Parishioners at Immaculate Conception Church, St. James and other local Catholic churches may notice something different on Sunday. The Archdiocese of Boston announced this week that it is allowing priests to suspend the distribution of wine from a common chalice during Communion as a precaution because of the recent flu outbreak, The Boston Globe reported. Churches were also notified that parishioners could exchange a sign of peace by “bowing to nearby parishioners instead of shaking hands,” reported The Globe. Earlier this week, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino declared a state of health emergency because of the flu outbreak and some nearby communities have also ran out of flu vaccine. It is still available in Stoughton, however. The Stoughton…

A TERRIBLE TRAGEDY: The Stoughton Community is a small one. All of us know the Wade family, as neighbors and friends. My son was a friend many years ago of Michael's, and my daughter a friend of David's, and a former teammate of his on the cheerleading squad. I know that everyone feels the pain of the Wade family, from the accidental shooting that resulted in David's death last Saturday, Sept. 29. We grieve as one. David Wade, 17, a senior at Stoughton High, was a past member of the SHS cheerleading squad, and for the past two seasons was a member of the Stoughton High football team, wearing No. 56 this year and playing on the line. Teammates, friends and community members gathered at a candlelight vigil Sunday night on Barnes Road., …
