Stoughton-Based Animal Rescue Team Collects 1,000 Pounds of Supplies for Hurricane Sandy Pet Shelter

A letter from South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team leader Chris D'Arpino on the success of a recent donation drive for a Hurricane Sandy pet shelter in New Jersey.

Editor's Note: The Stoughton-based South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART) collected donations for pets impacted by Hurricane Sandy last Saturday, Nov. 17 to be transported to a New Jersey animal shelter. SSDART team leader Chris D'Arpino, a Stoughton resident, writes a letter of thanks to the community for their support of this donation drive. *** Thanks to the generosity of so many people our donation collection day was a HUGE success. Because of these amazing donations this Thanksgiving will be filled with good food, clean blankets and yummy treats for the animals in the emergency shelters in New jersey.  The South Shore disaster Animal Rescue Team is sending over 1,000 lbs of supplies to the affected areas. Stoughton-Based Animal Rescue Team Collecting Donations for Hurricane Sandy Pet Shelter

The Stoughton-based South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART) will be collecting donations for pets this Saturday to be transported to a New Jersey animal shelter.

Stoughton continues to step up for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, and this time, one Stoughton group has pets specifically in mind. The Stoughton-based South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART) is teaming up with the Cape Cod DART to collect much-needed animal supplies to transport to a New Jersey animal shelter where many four-legged friends remain after Sandy devastated the New York/New Jersey area. SSDART will be collecting items this Saturday, Nov. 17 at 513 Canton St. in Stoughton from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., SSDART Team Leader Christopher D’Arpino, a Stoughton resident, said. Stoughton Lending Hand to Victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York/New Jersey Area

Stoughton Police are organizing a donation drive for victims in Staten Island, NY; a Stoughton-based animal rescue team (SSDART) is deploying to New Jersey; and a Stoughton man is one of the Red Cross volunteers sent to New Jersey.

Stoughton Police organizing a donation drive for victims in Staten Island, NY The Stoughton Police have been running a donation drive since Monday, Nov. 5 for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Donations of non-perishable foods; cleaning products; bottled water; gently used clothing; jackets (and cold weather gear) for men, women and children; packages of new socks; underwear; and toiletries, etc. can be dropped off at the Stoughton Police Station (in the community room) until Saturday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. The Police Station is located on Rose St. All donations will be packed, loaded into trucks and delivered to the victims in Staten Island, NY, by members of the Stoughton Police Department, according to the SPD Facebook page. Stoughton’s D’Arpino Helps to Rescue Canton Cat

On June 8, the Stoughton-based South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART) helped to rescue a cat stuck in a tree in Canton. Stoughton’s Christopher L. D’Arpino is the SSDART team leader.

The Following is a release from the South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team: A Canton cat stuck for three days 100 feet up in a tree on Harrison Road (off Randolph St.) was lowered safely to the ground Friday, June 8 by The South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team. The Stoughton-based group was contacted Friday by Canton Animal Control officer Nadia Branca to help save a cat that was stuck in a tree. The cat, “Figaro,” was had been in the tree during the recent rain storms.  Stoughton's Christopher D’Arpino, team leader of the South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team, assembled a team of vet techs specifically trained for such a rescue.  The cat “Figaro” was moving further and further out onto an unsafe limb and was in immediate need of …

STOUGHTON GROUP SAVES CAT: At approximately 1:30 p.m. on May 8, the Stoughton-based South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART) was called for a cat in a tree behind La Salette in Attleboro. According to a press release from SSDART, the caller reported the cat had been stuck in the tree for at least three days and was approximately seventy feet up. Team leader Christopher D’Arpino (a Stoughton resident) responded to the call with rescuer Jonathan Cuneo (pictured with Timber the cat in our gallery). Once the two arrived they saw a tiger striped young male cat up in a tree perched on a very thin branch.    “The wind was the biggest concern, given the branch was very thin and the whole tree was swaying from the wind” said D’Arpino in the…

Stoughton’s D’Arpino Helps to Rescue Local Cat

The South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART) helped to rescue a cat stuck in tree this past week in Halifax, MA. Stoughton’s Christopher L. D’Arpino is the SSDART team leader.

The Following is a release from the South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team: The South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART), led by Stoughton resident Christopher L. D’Arpino, helped to rescue a cat stuck in tree this past week in Halifax, MA.   At 11:30 a.m. on Monday the cat’s owner contacted D’Arpino, the SSDART team leader, reporting that his cat had been in a tree for approximately twenty hours.   The one-year-old cat was fifty to sixty feet up and on a very weak branch. The wind conditions, though light, were causing the tree and branch to sway, and therefore making it an unsafe scenario for the cat.   The South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team dispatched Jonathan Cuneo, an EMT, and D’Arpino and Bridget Hatch, both Veterinary …
