After compiling a 10-2 record in the regular season, the Stoughton/STOYAC 6th grade travel team finished third in the state at the Mass Premier State Tournament, capping a season full of success.

The following was submitted to Stoughton Patch: The weekend of March 24-25 the Stoughton/STOYAC sixth grade girls’ travel basketball team competed in the State Tournament at Mass Premier. The girls went 2-1 finishing in 3rd place in the State. Their only loss was to the eventual champion North Andover. They were invited to compete in the tourney by winning the Thanksgiving Day Tourney at Stonehill. Having been in Division 2 last year the girls set a goal of going at least .500 record for their first year in Metrowest Division 1. Not only did they accomplish that by going 10-2 for the season, they were first in their Division. In the Metrowest Tournament the girls made it to the final game by winning the first two rounds. The 6th grade girls’ team improves to 8-2, while the 6th grade boys’ team and 8th grade girls’ team are both 7-3.
In a battle for first place in Division 1 of the Metro West Travel Basketball League, Stoughton’s STOYAC 6th grade girls’ team beat the 6th graders from Milton, 47-37, last Sunday at the O’Donnell Middle School gym. Stoughton and Milton now both sit atop the standings of the 10-team division at 8-2, but Stoughton holds the tie-breaker. With the win, Stoughton was able to avenge a 47-45 loss in the opening week of the season to this same Milton team. The website Select Hoops ranks the Stoughton 6th grade girls #2 in its top 25 power rankings for Eastern Massachusetts 6th grade girls’ basketball teams, right ahead of #3 Milton.
