Twelve Stoughton Pop Warner Players and Cheerleaders Named All-American Scholar-Athletes

A dozen student athletes were honored at the STOYAC Pop Warner banquet for achieving academic excellence.

The STOYAC Pop Warner program honored nine football players and three cheerleaders at its awards banquet Feb. 24 for achieving academic excellence. These 12 Stoughton student-athletes, all seventh and eighth graders, have been named to the 2012 All-American Scholar-Athlete Team, which is awarded to only the top 2-percent of all the boys and girls who paricipate in Pop Warner football and cheerleading throughout the United States, according to the STOYAC website. The following are Stoughton/STOYAC's representatives on the 2012 All-American Scholar-Athlete Team:

REAL ESTATE ROAST ROSTER:  The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce is roasting another "victim" on Saturday, March 2.  After previous roasts of Terry Schneider, Francis T. Crimmins, Jr. and Mike Sammarco, this year's "roastee" is Stoughton real estate legend Fred Yaitanes.   Fred, along with his lovely bride Nadine Israel, owns the Fred & Nadine Realtor Team of Stoughton, which runs out of the Keller Williams Office in Easton. Fred is an active member of the Food Pantry Foundation of Stoughton, and recently directed a murder mystery at Town Hall that raised over $3,000 for SOLA (Support Our Library Association).  The roast, which runs from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Portuguese National Club at 21 Railroad Avenue, will feature decadent desserts and a lot…

The B-Raiders lost to North Attleboro in the Hockomock League Super Bowl (Division 1 Junior Midget Championship) on Nov. 18. Take a look at pictures from the game (players and cheerleaders) in the media gallery.

In a back-and-forth game, the STOYAC B-Raiders fell 28-18 to undefeated North Attleboro last Sunday, Nov. 18 in the Hockomock League Division 1 Junior Midget Pop Warner Super Bowl, played at Stoughton High. This was the second straight Super Bowl appearance for the B-Raiders, who were edged in last year's championship against King Philip, 8-0. Against North Attleboro in this season's Super Bowl, Nick Spohn had two touchdown passes (one each to Joey Eartbawey and Ryan Sullivan) and Izon Swain-Price returned a kick for a touchdown. STOYAC Pop Warner B-Raiders Win Overtime Thriller, Advancing to Super Bowl

The B-Raiders beat Westwood in the semifinal round of the Hockomock League Division 1 Junior Midget Pop Warner playoffs and now face undefeated North Attleboro in the Super Bowl Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. at Stoughton High.

The STOYAC Pop Warner B-Raiders are going back to the Super Bowl after pulling out a thrilling 34-33 overtime win over Westwood this past Sunday morning in Westwood in the semifinals. With the semifinal round win, Stoughton will now take on North Attleboro in the Hockomock League Division 1 Junior Midget Pop Warner Championship (a.k.a. the Super Bowl) Sunday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Stoughton High football field. The Westwood game was a back-and-forth affair between "two very evenly matched teams with many skilled athletes on both sides," coach Greg Spohn said. After the game was tied at 14 going into the half, Westwood scored to make it 20-14 and then Stoughton scored the next two touchdowns to go up 27-20. But, Westwood scored again …

STOYAC Pop Warner B-Raiders Eye Super Bowl Berth

The 7-2 B-Raiders beat Foxborough in the opening round of the Hockomock League Division 1 Junior Midget Pop Warner playoffs and now face Westwood in the semifinals Nov. 11, with the winner going to the Super Bowl.

A shutout win against Foxborough in the first round of the Hockomock League Division 1 Junior Midget Pop Warner playoffs has the STOYAC B-Raiders one game away from a return trip to the Hockomock League Super Bowl. Foxborough beat Stoughton 26-14 in the first game of the season, but Stoughton won the rematch in the playoffs, 26-0, Sunday, Nov. 4 in Foxborough. The B-Raiders were led by two touchdowns from Nick Spohn. Alex Sjoquist and Ryan Sullivan also scored for Stoughton. Coach Greg Spohn said the playoff win over Foxborough was a "solid all-around defensive effort, with all players contributing."
