The 16th Annual New England Regional Pop Warner Awards Banquet was held March 31 at Gillette Stadium. Sixteen football players and cheerleaders from STOYAC were named 2012 Region Scholars.
Sixteen football players and cheerleaders from the Stoughton/STOYAC Pop Warner program were named 2012 Region Scholars by New England Pop Warner. They were honored at the 16th annual New England Regional Pop Warner Awards Banquet, held Saturday, March 31 at the Dana Farber Field House at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots. Each scholar-athlete had to have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 96 to be eligible for the award. STOYAC recreation league basketball held its championship games for peewee, junior, senior and graduate divisions on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Stoughton High.

The 6th grade girls’ team improves to 8-2, while the 6th grade boys’ team and 8th grade girls’ team are both 7-3.
In a battle for first place in Division 1 of the Metro West Travel Basketball League, Stoughton’s STOYAC 6th grade girls’ team beat the 6th graders from Milton, 47-37, last Sunday at the O’Donnell Middle School gym. Stoughton and Milton now both sit atop the standings of the 10-team division at 8-2, but Stoughton holds the tie-breaker. With the win, Stoughton was able to avenge a 47-45 loss in the opening week of the season to this same Milton team. The website Select Hoops ranks the Stoughton 6th grade girls #2 in its top 25 power rankings for Eastern Massachusetts 6th grade girls’ basketball teams, right ahead of #3 Milton. A full house watched the Stoughton High girls’ varsity basketball team (10-5) beat Sharon Friday night at home, 46-40, on Senior Night, to clinch a spot in the postseason tournament. Prior to the start of Stoughton’s final home game of the season, the team’s five seniors—Chrystal Holland, Jackie Kuhn, Katherine Chlus, Jessica Freitas and Liz Roch—were honored on court. Friday’s home game was also “Girls’ Night at the Knights” for STOYAC’s girls’ basketball players. All STOYAC girls’ basketball players were admitted for $1 if they wore their jersey. STOYAC girls’ players will be admitted for $1 if they wear their jerseys to Friday’s Stoughton High girls’ basketball game. Friday is also senior night for the Stoughton High girls’ varsity team.
STOYAC and the Stoughton High Athletics Department are hosting “Girls’ Night at the Knights” this Friday (February 10) when the Stoughton High girls’ basketball team hosts the Sharon Eagles. All STOYAC girls’ basketball players from the peewee, junior and senior divisions, as well as those girls playing on a STOYAC travel basketball team will be admitted for only $1 if they wear their STOYAC t-shirt/uniform shirt. All other spectators will be charged regular admission. The junior varsity game starts at 5 p.m. and the varsity game starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday is also senior night for the Stoughton High girls’ varsity team.
