Norton Man Cited for Leaving Scene of Route 24 Fatal

A 20-year old Norton man is cited for leaving the scene of Sunday's fatal on Route 24 where a Needham pedestrian was struck and killed. The accident took place in Randolph on the northbound side of the highway, not far from Stoughton.

A 29-year-old Needham man may have been standing in the roadway when he was hit, according to a report from the Norfolk County DA. The accident took place early Sunday morning in Randolph, not far from Stoughton.

Updated at 7 p.m. on July 29: A Needham man died early Sunday morning after he was struck by a vehicle on Route 24 northbound in Randolph, not far from the Stoughton stretch of the highway. The 29-year-old man, identified as Adam T. Trudeau, may have been standing in the roadway on the northbound side of Route 24 when he was struck by a vehicle, according to a press release from the Office of Norfolk County District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey. The accident happened around 1:15 a.m. on July 29. In Response to Fatal Crashes, State Police to Add Extra Patrols on Route 24

Eleven extra troopers will patrol Route 24 and Interstate 195 overnight on Fridays and Saturdays in response to a slew of recent fatal and near-fatal accidents.

In response to a slew of fatal and near-fatal accidents on Route 24 in recent weeks, Massachusetts State Police are beefing up patrols in the area. State Police announced Thursday morning that 11 additional patrols will be on Route 24 and Interstate 195 from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. on Friday into Saturday and again on Saturday into Sunday for the remainder of the summer. The extra patrols will be in addition to regular patrols out of the Middleboro and Dartmouth barracks. Police hope the additional patrols will crack down on unsafe drivers. "If you will not drive safely for your own sake, please remember you have no right to put anyone else's life in danger," Superintendent Colonel Timothy Alben said during a press conference at the Route 24 …

Man Shot at Technology Center Drive Apartment Complex in Stoughton A man was transported to Boston Medical Center the afternoon of July 16 with a gunshot wound in the lower back, suffered at the Lodge at Stoughton on Technology Center Drive. State Police Cruiser Involved in Route 24 Crash Near Stoughton Line

The cruiser was hit from behind, but the trooper was not injured, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The Massachusetts State Police reported another motor vehicle accident on Route 24 in the Stoughton area Tuesday afternoon, but this time it was one of its own cruisers that was involved in the crash, rear-ended by another car. According to a press release from the MSP, "a Massachusetts State Police Cruiser was struck from behind [by] another vehicle on Route 24 southbound." The accident, reported around 4 p.m., took place in Randolph by exit 20, near the Stoughton line. "The cruiser was operating in the middle lane when it was struck from behind by another passenger car. The cruiser is reported to have sustained heavy damage," The MSP release states. Stoughton Cheerleading Program Holding Fundraiser for Family of Norton Girl Killed in Route 24 Rollover

Angel Pina, 12, of Norton, died following a single car rollover on Route 24 on the Stoughton/Avon line on July 12. Cheer Nation of Stoughton will be holding an open tumble fundraiser this Friday, July 20 for Angel's family.

A Stoughton cheerleading program will be stepping up this Friday to hold a fundraiser for the family of Angel Pina, the Norton girl who was was killed following a tragic single car rollover on Route 24 southbound on the Stoughton/Avon line. Just 12-years-old, Pina was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The crash also hospitalized two other Norton women, including Pina's mother, Sandra Ouellette. Pina recently finished fifth grade at the H.A. Yelle School in Norton, according to a release from the Norton Public Schools. She was scheduled to attend Norton Middle School in September. Rear-End Collision and Rollover on Route 24 in Stoughton

Separate car accidents Saturday night and Sunday morning on Route 24 in Stoughton resulted in minor injuries.

Two people were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries following an accident Saturday night on Route 24 in Stoughton, according to Stoughton Fire Department captain Robert O'Donnell. The injuries were the result of a rear-end collision under the Route 139 overpass on Route 24 southbound around 10 p.m. Fire Departments from Stoughton and Randolph responded to the scene, O'Donnell said. Randolph transported one patient to the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, while an ambulance from Brewster, who was returning from another call, transported another patient to Boston Medical Center, according to O'Donnell. State Police: Investigation of Fatal Route 24 Rollover Suggests Victims Not Wearing Seat Belts

Thursday's rollover crash on Route 24 northbound on the Stoughton/Avon line claimed the life of a Norton 12-year-old girl and injured two other Norton women. A tread failure on a rear tire may have caused the crash, according to State Police.

Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police and the department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are "investigating whether a tread failure on the right rear tire" may have caused the single car Route 24 rollover late Thursday afternoon, which took the life of a 12-year-old Norton girl and injured two other Norton women, according to David Procopio, spokesperson for the MSP. The crash, which involved a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado Avalanche, occurred at 4:43 p.m. on July 12 on Route 24 northbound, about a quarter-mile south of exit 20 (Route 139) on the Stoughton/Avon line. Pregnant Woman in Route 24 Crash Gives Birth

Stephanie Rogers, 21, of Norton, one of three victims in Thursday's crash on Route 24, gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

The July 12 Route 24 rollover that claimed the life of 12-year-old Angel Pina of Norton also induced the labor of passenger Stephanie Rogers, who was 8 months pregnant, according to WCVB Channel 5 news. Rogers gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Jasmine. "Stephanie and Jasmine are doing well," William Rogers, the brother of Stephanie and cousin to the other two victims, wrote on the Norton Patch Facebook page. "Thank you all for you prayers and support."
