STOUGHTON CANCER SURVIVOR FEATURED SPEAKER: Taking place in the Harvard Medical School Quadrangle on May 20, is the Celebration of Life, a full day of celebration, education and kinship for the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) cancer community to raise awareness about the battle against cancer.  This poignant event also welcomes men and women who receive their care from other hospitals in and around Boston – and beyond. Mark Leppo, a Stoughton realtor, is a featured speaker at the event.   Mark fought for his life against the rare and deadly Merkel Cell Carcinoma.  Surgery, regular chemotherapy and radiation couldn't halt the cancer, and it threatened his leg and his life.  An experimental five hour procedure, called Isolated …

SECOND ANNUAL SPIN-A-THON FOR STRONG KIDS A SUCCESS: The Old Colony YMCA Stoughton Branch held its second "Ride for Strong Kids" Spin-a-thon, sponsored by CBIZ Tofias, on Saturday, March 24. Money raised from this event will support the branch’s annual campaign, providing financial assistance for community kids and families who without this support would not be able to participate in YMCA membership, camp and afterschool programs. "Working alongside the committee of volunteers that made this event happen, is truly inspiring," stated Serah Selmon, Associate Executive Director of the Stoughton Branch. GUNS & HOSES: March 24 at 5:20 p.m., The Stoughton Fire and Police Departments are set to face off in the Sixth Annual Guns N’ Hoses Benefit Hockey Game.  The two teams will meet at the Asiaf Rink, Brockton High School, where the Fire Dept. hopes to defend the victory they earned a year ago.  In February, the two teams faced each other to raise money for the Fisher House. In an evenly contested match the two teams were deadlocked at a goal a piece when the final seconds ticked off the clock.  This time the two departments will face off to raise money for Friends Of Stoughton Hockey (F.O.S.H.).  F.O.S.H. is a 501 (c) non-profit organization dedicated to helping young hockey players improve their hockey skills. The Stoughton YMCA is holding a spin-a-thon on Saturday, March 24 to help support the branch’s annual campaign, which provides financial assistance for children and families in the community.

The following is a release from the Old Colony YMCA: Old Colony YMCA is asking you to “Ride with us to strengthen your communities!” The Old Colony YMCA Stoughton branch will hold its "Ride for Strong Kids" Spin-a-thon, sponsored by CBIZ Tofias, on Saturday, March 24, 2012.
