REVEREND JEFF LEAVING FIRST PARISH: Reverend Jeffrey Symynkywicz announced recently to his congregation at the First Parish Universalist Church of Stoughton that he will be retiring from the Unitarian Universalist ministry as of the summer of 2013, and will resign his position as Minister of First Parish as of August 31, 2013. Symynkywicz, who has the most difficult name I’ve had to learn to spell (I prefer Rev. Jeff), has been one of the most active members of the Stoughton Clergy Association, and has presided over a period of growth and energy at First Parish, located at 790 Washington St. in Stoughton Center. The Stoughton Clergy Association presented its annual Stoughton Community Thanksgiving Service Tuesday night.
Amid the hectic time of Thanksgiving, Rev. It's also a time to remember those who came before us and to give thanks for all we have. "Gratitude for being itself was one of the first religious responses to human existence," said Rev. Jeffrey B. Symynkywicz of the First Parish Universalist Church, whose entire semon can be read on his blog. "Our ancestors, ancient and not-so-ancient, lived close to the earth; their existence was marginal, at best. They were glad just to be alive. Because they knew, so intimately, the very fragility of their lives, our ancestors felt so close to their God, to the powers of life and death …
