Stoughton Woman Gives Birth at Randolph Fire Station A Stoughton woman in labor ended up giving birth to a baby girl at Randolph's main fire station Wednesday morning, WCVB.com reports. The woman's husband was driving her to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, but the new mom's labor pains were so severe that the husband didn't think they would make it to the hospital before the baby was born so the couple stopped at the Randolph fire station, Randolph Firefighter Steve Glassman said, according to WCVB.com. Stoughton College Student Dies in Amherst Apartment Fire Jake Hoffman, 21, of Stoughton, was identified as the UMass Amherst college student who died in an early morning fire in an off-campus apartment building in Amherst Jan. 21. Hoffman, a 2009 graduate of Stoughton High School, was in his senior year at the UMass Amherst, studying Hospitality and Tourism Management. Fire crews responded to a three-alarm fire at the Rolling Green apartment complex in Amherst around 4:45 a.m. on Monday. The fire, which caused severe damage to the building, displaced 32 people, 22 of whom are students at UMass, according to The Republican of Springfield. Hoffman was the only reported fatality. Four Arrested After Brawl Breaks Out at Stoughton Baby Shower A baby shower at Club Luis de Camoes on Porter Street in Stoughton the evening of Saturday, Jan. 12 turned into a full-fledged brawl that took 20 police officers nearly an hour to quell. Four from Brockton ended up getting arrested, including one juvenile. Nearly 200 people, including children, were at the baby shower, which started at 9 p.m. A fight, which quickly escalated, broke out a little after 11:30 p.m. Stoughton Police responded, but needed assistance from three other local police departments as well as the State Police and Norfolk County Sheriff's Office to quell the brawl. Two-Alarm Fire Causes Severe Damage to Stoughton Home Monday Night A two-alarm fire caused severe damage to a single family home in Stoughton Monday night. The Stoughton Fire Department responded to a report of a bedroom fire at 19 Churchill Ave. at 6:24 p.m. Jan. 7. The fire started in a first floor bedroom in the front of the home and spread to both levels. There was extensive damage to the home, but there were no injuries to any of the home’s occupants or first responders on scene. Stoughton Police Thwart Robbery at Webster Bank Stoughton Police, working with the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force, foiled an alleged robbery at Webster Bank in Stoughton Friday morning, Stoughton Police Executive Officer Robert Devine said. Lucas Gravina, 29, of Hull, entered the Webster Bank at 700 Washington St. (on the corner of Washington and Monk Streets) at 10:22 a.m. on Nov. 2 and robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of money, Devine said. Gravina, a suspect in a series of bank robberies in the local area, was being surveilled by Stoughton Police Detectives and the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force as he was heading into the bank, and when he walked out, Stoughton Police greeted him and placed Gravina under arrest in the bank parking lot…

Stoughton Man Turns to Attempted Murder After Argument Turns Violent A 42-year-old Stoughton man is charged with attempted murder after an argument turned violent early Sunday morning, according to Stoughton Police. Police were called to 16 Bell St. in Stoughton at 12:54 a.m. on Oct. 21 after "several calls [reported] a fight and people yelling/screaming," according to the Stoughton Police log. In addition to attempted murder, Michael Safranek, 42, of 29 Bell St. in Stoughton, is charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; and single counts of possession of a firearm while intoxicated and possession of more than one ounce of marijuana, according to the log.   Stoughton Man Charged with Attempted Murder Police arrested a Stoughton man for attempted murder, among other charges, after he allegedly attacked his parents the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 5, according to the Stoughton Police Log and the Stoughton Police Department Facebook Page. Mansfield Man (and '99 Stoughton High Grad) Wanted by FBI For Terrorism A local man is wanted by the FBI for conspiracy to provide material support or resource to al Qaeda in an effort to kill American soldiers. The FBI said Wednesday Ahmad Abousamra, formally of Mansfield, traveled to Pakistan and Yemen to seek military training so he could kill American soldiers. There is a $50,000 reward for Abousamra's arrest. Abousamra lived at 33 Church St. in Mansfield during his time in town. He is also a 1999 graduate of Stoughton High School.
