Stoughton Resident Among Local Volunteers Sent to Help with Flooding After Isaac Hits Gulf Region

The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts sent volunteers to the Gulf Region - including Tom Grimsley of Stoughton - to help those affected by Hurricane Isaac.

The following is from the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts: Tom Grimsley of Stoughton is among the hundreds of volunteers across the U.S. who are deployed to help those affected by Hurricane Isaac. A specialist in health services, Grimsley answered the call early to deploy to Miami last week to await landfall. Now that the storm has changed track and the greatest need is in the Mississippi Delta, Grimsley will be traveling first to Houston and then to New Orleans to help the relief effort there. As of Wednesday night there were nearly 80 shelters that were run by or supported by the Red Cross for Hurricane Isaac across 7 states. More than 4,700 people stayed in these shelters. Stoughton Resident Sent to Florida to Help Area Prepare for Arrival of Tropical Storm Isaac

The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts is sending volunteers to Florida - including Tom Grimsley of Stoughton - to help before storm’s possible landfall.

Information from an American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts press release used in this article: A Stoughton resident is part of a group of people from Massachusetts “volunteering to jump on a plane [Friday] to help Florida prepare" for its response to Tropical Storm Isaac, according to Kat Powers, Communications Director of the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts. “Tropical Storm Isaac is threatening parts of the Caribbean and could affect southern Florida early next week,” Powers wrote in an email. “Isaac could bring strong winds gusting as high as 75 mph and 4 to 8 inches of rain.
