I think this will be a huge loss for Stoughton if they leave the Town altogether. I suspected it would go this way when they passed on the purchase of the available lot across from the Ahavath Torah Congregation that could have met their parking demands. Nothing good about this for the Town.   more ›

Stoughton Woman Gives Birth at Randolph Fire Station

Randolph firefighters helped a Stoughton woman deliver a baby girl at the Randolph Fire Station Wednesday morning.

A Stoughton woman in labor ended up giving birth to a baby girl at Randolph's main fire station Wednesday morning, WCVB.com reports. The woman's husband was driving her to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, but the new mom's labor pains were so severe that the husband didn't think they would make it to the hospital before the baby was born so the couple stopped at the Randolph fire station, Randolph Firefighter Steve Glassman said, according to WCVB.com. A group of seven Randolph firefighters helped the mom with the delivery, which went smoothly, according to WCVB.com. The baby was born at the station at 8:16 a.m. Feb. 6 and then mom and baby were taken to the hospital in Weymouth. The names of the mom and baby were not released. This past …

Gallery: Stoughton High Boys' Basketball Falls in Finals of Blue Devils Holiday Classic

The Stoughton High boys' basketball team finished as the runner-up in the 2012 Blue Devils Holiday Classic after losing 61-41 to Hingham in the championship game, played Sunday afternoon in Randolph. Take a look at the gallery for photos from the game.

Falling behind 16-2 just five minutes into the game, and trailing 20-7 by the end of the first quarter, the Stoughton High boys' basketball team never recovered from a slow start, losing 61-41 to Hingham in the championship game of the 2012 Blue Devils Holiday Classic Sunday afternoon at Randolph High. Hingham extended its lead to 37-17 by the half and 51-20 by midway through the third quarter. Stoughton went on an 11-0 run, which spanned the end of the third and start of the fourth, but Hingham quickly ended any hopes of an improbable comeback. "Just a disaster from before it started to when it ended for the most part," Stoughton coach John Gallivan said. "A couple of kids I thought did ok - Matty Mack had another good performance, …

MERGING OF THE MINDS: Ahavath Torah Congregation of Stoughton has a newly-named religious school, combining its school with that of Temple Beth Am in Randolph, starting in September, 2012.   The new school is named  B'Yachad South Area Religious School.  B'Yachad meaning “Together," symbolic of the merging and collaboration of the two synagogues' religious schools, staff and curriculum.     The religious education merger is a way to save costs and deal with declining enrollment for the two Hebrew Schools. Daddy's Dairy, which has locations in Stoughton and Randolph, is coming soon to the Easton-Brockton town line.

Daddy's Dairy, which has locations in Stoughton and Randolph, is expanding once again.  Daddy's third location will be on the Easton-Brockton town line in the Owen O'Leary's Plaza on Belmont Street in Brockton. Owners Traci Segal and John Minihan are aiming to open there at the end of July or early August. "We have a lot of Easton customers in Stoughton alone," Segal said. "It’s a good location, so we’re excited. We usually go to Back Bay Bagel over there and we saw a couple of spots open. It’s pretty late in the season for us to get open. We’re usually open by March. But, because of the timing of the space, with Stonehill kids going back to school we figured it would be OK." Segal and Minihan's Stoughton location celebrated its second …
