Stoughton Schools Announce "Dollars for Stoughton Scholars" Scholarship Challenge

The scholarship challenge has a goal of raising $200,000 in scholarships for the Class of 2013 Stoughton High graduates through direct and matching donations.

Information from the "Dollars for Stoughton Scholars" brochure used in this article: The Stoughton Schools are looking to give a nice parting gift to members of the Stoughton High Class of 2013 when they graduate this June: up to $200,000 in scholarship money. With one generous donor on board (the Prone Family Foundation), the Schools are looking for other businesses and individuals to join and partake in a "scholarship challenge," with the goal of raising $200,000 for this year's SHS graduates. Malcolm and Parsons Makes Sizable Donation to Stoughton's Food Pantries

The Stoughton insurance agency's three-month food drive benefits both of Stoughton's food pantries.

After running a food pantry drive this past December, January and February, Malcolm and Parsons Insurance Agency in downtown Stoughton was able to donate about 2,000 items to the two food pantries in town. Malcolm and Parsons also made a monetary donation of $2,000, with the Prone Family Foundation matching it, so both the Ilse Marks Food Pantry and the St. Anthony's Free Market were able to receive $2,000 each. School Committee Accepts Donations, Scholarships to Benefit Stoughton High Students

The School Committee voted to accept a $28,000 donation from the Prone Family Foundation, which will go towards enrichment activities at Stoughton High. The Committee also approved a series of scholarships for graduating seniors.

Over the past year, the Prone Family Foundation has made donations to and supported numerous causes in Stoughton, including the schools. Last year, the Prone Family Foundation funded a number of scholarships for graduating Stoughton High students. This year, in addition to those scholarships, the Foundation will donate an additional $28,000 to “benefit the students of Stoughton High at all grade levels,” Stoughton High Principal Matt Colantonio told the School Committee at their Tuesday meeting.
