Oliver Ames came away with a 65-17 win against the visiting Stoughton High girls' basketball team Friday night.
The Oliver Ames girls' basketball team, hitting on all cylinders offensively, defensively and in the rebounding game, capped an undefeated 18-0 regular season by beating Stoughton, a playoff-bound team, 65-17 in Easton Friday night. Stoughton entered the game on a five-game winning streak. The 17 points is a season low for the Black Knights. "To hold a team like Stoughton to 17 points in a game- we’ve just been so focused on our defense and to hold them to that number – it’s just incredible," Oliver Ames coach Elaine Clement-Holbrook said. Stoughton dropped to 12-6 with the loss. The Black Knights were unable to get anything going against a stifling Tigers 'D' and transition game. Photos from the Stoughton High girls' basketball team's 50-37 loss to Oliver Ames Friday night.
In a battle between two of the top teams in the Hockomock League's Davenport Division, a depleted Stoughton High girls' basketball team put up a fight, but fell 50-37 to unbeaten Oliver Ames Friday at home. OA and Stoughton were tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter, but the Tigers outscored the Black Knights 21-5 in the second quarter to take a 30-14 lead into the half en route to victory. OA ended Stoughton’s six-game win streak, but the Black Knights showed great improvement since these two teams met in January. OA clinches the Davenport with the win. Stoughton needs one more win to qualify for the postseason.
Five weeks ago, the Oliver Ames girls’ basketball team crushed Stoughton 60-19 in Easton, in a matchup of a powerhouse squad and a struggling team that once enjoyed great success. Since then, Oliver Ames (14-1 overall, 10-1 Hockomock League and 6-0 Davenport Division) has continued its great run for yet another year, but there have been changes at Stoughton. Since that 41-point loss in January, Stoughton has turned its season around winning seven of its last eight games, including six in a row heading into Tuesday’s rematch with OA. But, on Tuesday night, Oliver Ames once again beat the Black Knights, 54-37, this time in Stoughton, but it wasn’t easy and Stoughton now has proven it is much-improved, tournament-ready and can play with the …

The Lady Tigers improve to 6-0 after a 60-19 victory over the Black Knights (2-3) Friday at Oliver Ames.
It’s no secret that the Oliver Ames girls’ basketball team prides itself on having a solid defensive effort. Once again, that approach paid dividends Friday night at the Nixon Gymnasium as the Lady Tigers cruised to a 60-19 victory over Stoughton and improved to 6-0 on the season (2-0 Davenport Division/Hockomock League). “It was top to bottom one of the better efforts in terms of their contributions,” said OA coach Elaine Clement-Holbrook. “We talk about playing as a team and having good teamwork and I was proud with how everyone performed tonight.” From the opening whistle, OA was just a step ahead of the pack. As part of a 21-2 first quarter run, the Lady Tigers forced 10 of Stoughton’s 30 turnovers Friday night and used the transition …
