Drug Possession/Underage Possession of Alcohol Three teens were arrested early Monday morning in Stoughton for possession of alcohol and a Class D drug. Stoughton Police found a motor vehicle on Wheeler Circle at 1:08 a.m. on Oct. 8 and placed the three occupants under arrest. The following is adapted from a press release from David Procopio, Spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police: The Massachusetts State Police relieved Trooper Brian Simpkins of duty Friday morning following his arrest in the overnight hours by Stoughton Police for operating under the influence and violation of the open container law. Simpkins, 39, of Canton, was ordered held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail at his arraignment Friday morning in Stoughton District Court. An Avon Man was arrested in Stoughton on September 11 for operating under the influence of liquor (fourth offense).
A 54-year-old Avon man was arrested in Stoughton on Tuesday for operating under the influence of liquor. It was his fourth drunk driving offense, according to the Stoughton Police log. Canton police called at 11:18 p.m. on September 11 stating that a car was "traveling into Stoughton at a high rate of speed on three tires," according to the log. Just a few minutes later, Stoughton Police pulled the car over at the intersection of Washington and Central Streets in Stoughton. Thomas Dwyer, 54, of Avon, was arrested and charged with OUI liquor (fourth offense); failure to stop for a police officer while operating a motor vehicle; and operating a motor vehicle negligently to endanger. Sherm's Auto Body towed the vehicle, according to the log.

A Stoughton woman driving with a four-year-old child was arrested Thursday evening for operating under the influence (second offense) following a car accident on Central St. The Stoughton Police and Fire Departments responded to a two-car accident at Central St. and Lakewood Dr. at 8:25 p.m. on September 6. Maranda Schmitt, 33, of Central St. in Stoughton, was charged with OUI second offense; operating with a revoked license; operating to endanger; and behavior that endangered a child, according to Stoughton Police Executive Officer Robert Devine. The following is adapted from a press release from the Massachusetts State Police: Massachusetts State Police troopers deployed as part of the Routes 24/195 Patrol Initiative made 10 more drunk driving arrests, including one for a sixth offense, during overnight hours this past weekend. The sixth weekend of the patrol surge also resulted in 14 other arrests, issuance of six criminal summonses and 263 citations for motor vehicle violations. Three operators stopped for speeding were clocked at speeds of 104, 107, and 110 miles per hour. Since the Routes 24/195 Patrol Initiative began on the night of July 27, deployed troopers have made 55 OUI arrests, 56 other arrests, issued 42 criminal summons, and written 1,640 citations for motor vehicle…

The following is adapted from a press release from the Massachusetts State Police: Massachusetts State Police from Troop D arrested six more drunk drivers this past Friday and Saturday night on the fourth weekend of the Routes 24/195 patrol surge. Troopers made 12 other arrests and issued five criminal summons. Additionally, troopers wrote 338 citations for motor vehicle violations on those highways during the targeted times this past weekend. The State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section also stopped 16 speeding trucks on Route 24 last week and conducted 23 commercial vehicle inspections. The following is from a Massachusetts State Police press release: Massachusetts State Police patrols assigned to saturate Routes 24 and 195 during the overnight hours this past weekend arrested eight drunk drivers, and apprehended two other motorists who had 530 bags of heroin in their car. Another highlight of week 3 of the Patrol Surge was an arrest for operating under the influence (3rd offense) on Route 24 in Berkley. Two other arrests were for OUI 2nd offense. Troopers also issued seven criminal summons and wrote 272 motor vehicle citations. In addition to the OUI arrests and the two above mentioned drug arrests, troopers made two other arrests. Maybe it's my fault for not pointing out the obvious. A cop is accused of some wrong doing be it a restraining order, dui or blah blah. He faces a judge like the rest but handled much differently. The politics kick in and the judge or prosecutor are afraid of favortism accusations and is dealt a stiffer sentence or harsher bail as in this case.
