Stoughton-Based Animal Rescue Team Collects 1,000 Pounds of Supplies for Hurricane Sandy Pet Shelter

A letter from South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team leader Chris D'Arpino on the success of a recent donation drive for a Hurricane Sandy pet shelter in New Jersey.

Editor's Note: The Stoughton-based South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART) collected donations for pets impacted by Hurricane Sandy last Saturday, Nov. 17 to be transported to a New Jersey animal shelter. SSDART team leader Chris D'Arpino, a Stoughton resident, writes a letter of thanks to the community for their support of this donation drive. *** Thanks to the generosity of so many people our donation collection day was a HUGE success. Stoughton-Based Animal Rescue Team Collecting Donations for Hurricane Sandy Pet Shelter

The Stoughton-based South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART) will be collecting donations for pets this Saturday to be transported to a New Jersey animal shelter.

Stoughton continues to step up for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, and this time, one Stoughton group has pets specifically in mind. The Stoughton-based South Shore Disaster Animal Rescue Team (SSDART) is teaming up with the Cape Cod DART to collect much-needed animal supplies to transport to a New Jersey animal shelter where many four-legged friends remain after Sandy devastated the New York/New Jersey area. SSDART will be collecting items this Saturday, Nov. 17 at 513 Canton St. in Stoughton from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., SSDART Team Leader Christopher D’Arpino, a Stoughton resident, said. Stoughton Lending Hand to Victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York/New Jersey Area

Stoughton Police are organizing a donation drive for victims in Staten Island, NY; a Stoughton-based animal rescue team (SSDART) is deploying to New Jersey; and a Stoughton man is one of the Red Cross volunteers sent to New Jersey.

Stoughton Police organizing a donation drive for victims in Staten Island, NY The Stoughton Police have been running a donation drive since Monday, Nov. 5 for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Donations of non-perishable foods; cleaning products; bottled water; gently used clothing; jackets (and cold weather gear) for men, women and children; packages of new socks; underwear; and toiletries, etc. can be dropped off at the Stoughton Police Station (in the community room) until Saturday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. The Police Station is located on Rose St. All donations will be packed, loaded into trucks and delivered to the victims in Staten Island, NY, by members of the Stoughton Police Department, according to the SPD Facebook page.
