MURDER IN THE LIBRARY? Actually, the "murder" will be taking place at Town Hall, if Dori Frankel has anything to say about it. Frankel went to the Selectmen's meeting Tuesday night requesting to hold a "Murder In the Library" scripted theater event at the Town Hall on Jan. 18, 2013 as a fundraiser for Support Our Library Association, Inc. (SOLA). The SOLA group, a 501C3 nonprofit organization formed in October of 2011, is replacing the Friends of Stoughton Public Library, as the fundraising arm of the Park Street library. Frankel would like to see this murder-mystery take place in the Great Hall, on the third floor of the Town Hall. SAMMARCO EVENT WAS COOKING! Oh, what a night! About 140 people gathered Saturday night, March 10 at the VFW Hall in Stoughton to roast long-time Stoughton Babe Ruth Baseball director Mike Sammarco, who is also a well known cook at the Sons of Italy. The talk was of his meatballs and chicken cutlets, but attendees got dessert and coffee from Panera Bread. The event, sponsored by the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce, was a huge success. Over $2000 was raised for the Chamber's charitable endeavors and almost a grand was raised for Stoughton Babe Ruth baseball! The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce is roasting Stoughton’s Mike Sammarco this Saturday evening, March 10 at the VFW Hall in town.
The Stoughton Chamber of Commerce is putting the final touches on the recipe for what should be another successful roast. After roasting its own Executive Director, Terry Schneider in 2009, the Chamber roasted Town Manager Francis T. Crimmins last year. This Saturday, March 10, the Chamber will roast Mike Sammarco, known for his years of work with Stoughton Babe Ruth Baseball and the Sons of Italy. “We decided to make it an annual thing and we met several months ago and I had come up with a couple of names—Mike’s was one of them—and everyone just loved the idea because he’s such a character,” Cindy Pazyra, the event chair, said. “I think people like [roasts] because they like to watch people poking fun at people, all the while knowing that…
