Stoughton's mixed martial arts training center stands up to bullying and whips people into shape.
When I removed my shoes and opened the medieval-dungeon-esque door I was prepared for the intensity and toughness that one associates with mixed martial arts. I figured there’d be steel-eyed 20-somethings with cauliflower ears and heavy metal music blaring. The sound of leather bags being swatted was predictable but the swatters were not. Six buzzcutted kids—none of them could be 10 years old—were the trainees. Their parents watched from a row of chairs. Maxx Training Center sits immediately across from the Stoughton Police Station at 49 Rose St. The exterior is unassuming, just a black and red sign surrounded by various national flags.
