PIRES GETS LIONS CLUB'S HIGHEST AWARD: On Saturday, Feb. 23, the Lions Clubs for the Massachusetts District known as 33K held its mid-winter conference at the Hilton Hotel in Dedham. There are 47 Lion Clubs that belong to this district. During the dinner meeting, various awards were presented. The club members choose their members for the various awards.  John Pires of the Stoughton Lions Club was awarded the Lions' highest award, the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.  The Melvin Jones Fellowship is named for the founder of the Lions Clubs International. Melvin Jones founded the Lions in 1917.  The award is presented to members who give of their time back to their community, involvement in the various club's activities and possess the …

TITLETOWN! Show Your Team Spirit! Join the Dawe School PTO for its Adult Social…an evening of friends, food, and fun – without the kids – all in support of Dawe PTO programs. It happens on Friday, March 2, starting at 7 p.m. at Club Luiz de Camoes, 76 Porter Street in Stoughton. A THANKS FOR MEMORY ROOM FUNDRAISER SUCCESS: Last month’s fundraiser for The Memory Room raised over $20,000.  The Memory Room, which serves families who have lost a child, and helps them (through art, conversation, crafts, etc) to work through their grief, is located at 2 Canton Street, in the Trackside Plaza Courtyard.  The event was hosted by Stoughton Town Manager Frank Crimmins and was well-attended by town officials and residents alike. GALLERY: Corvairs Take the Stage at 2011 Summer Concert Series

The Stoughton Lions Club continued its popular 'Concert in the Park' series this past Sunday, July 17, with a performance by local band, The Corvairs. This was the second of six scheduled concerts this summer. The concerts are free, open to all, and are held at Faxon Veterans Memorial Park on Park Street (Rte. 27), across from the Stoughton Public Library. The Corvairs, a band that plays “classic hits,” features Bob Lynch (guitar and vocals), Ilene Corvini (drums and vocals), Patrick Dreier (keyboards, guitar and vocals) and Steve Dubois (bass and vocals). GALLERY: Easy Access Kicks Off 2011 Summer Concert Series

The Stoughton Lions Club kicked off its popular 'Concert in the Park' series with a performance by rock band Easy Access. The concerts are free, open to all, and are held at Faxon Veterans Memorial Park on Park Street (Rte. 27), across from the Stoughton Public Library. Easy Access, a Stoughton-based band, includes Janie Dulong at lead vocals, and Don Leon, Ken Licciardi, Jeff Brooker and Barry Forman. The group has been together for seven years. Dulong interacted with the crowd, stepping down from the gazebo and dancing with audience members or having them sing a line of a song.
