SHS GRAD RAISING FUNDS FOR GIRLS' CHARITY: Jenna Policow, a 2010 graduate of Stoughton High School, is a junior at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She will be running in the Philadelphia Half Marathon this weekend, raising funds for Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run, according to its website, is a "non-profit prevention program that uses the power of running to help prepare preteen and early teen girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. The program focuses on building self-esteem and improving emotional and physical health, recognizing that every girl is special, that every girl is strong, that every girl is a winner." Anne V. (Toland) Havlin Anne V. (Toland) Havlin, died Monday, November 5, 2012 after a long period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of Thomas D. Havlin. Born in Boston, she was a longtime resident of Stoughton. She was the longtime director of St. Anthony's Free Market Food Pantry in Stoughton and an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children; Shauna Jean and her husband Chris of Franklin; Kerry Campbell and her husband Tim of Bridgewater; Erin Lockhart and her husband Dave of Stoughton; and Molly Mills and her husband David of North Attleboro. STOUGHTON MOURNS ANNE HAVLIN: Stoughton lost one of its most dynamic citizens Monday night, November 5, with the death of Anne Havlin. Anne was the Director of the St. Anthony’s Free Market, a food pantry located inside the religious education department of Immaculate Conception Church. She had waged a three year battle against cancer, always wearing a smile, and the face of courage. Her husband Tom told me that, “It ended the way she wanted it. She was surrounded by her children.” Tom also shared how important that Christmas was to Anne. She had already wrapped all of this year’s gifts for her husband, her four daughters, and her five grandchildren. Paul J. Roach Paul J. Roach, 88, the retired Fire Chief of the Town of Stoughton, died peacefully Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 66 years of Madeline T. (Hogan) Roach. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was a graduate of St. Mary's School and Boston College High School. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps and a Veteran of World War II. Chief Roach worked for the Stoughton Fire Department from 1953 until his retirement in 1988. He was appointed Fire Chief in 1961 and held that position until his retirement. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, where he was Past President of the New England …

STOUGHTON SAYS FAREWELL TO KELLEY: The Town of Stoughton bid farewell to former selectman Mark Kelley in a somber ceremony Saturday, September 22, at the Immaculate Conception Church on Canton St. Father Joseph McDermott officiated as hymns were sung, words were spoken, and tears were shed for the former Precinct Captain at Town Meeting. Among the Faces in the Crowd were: Former Town Manager and Town Clerk Jeanne Fleming, retired DPW Superintendent Larry Barrett, former Selectmen Ed Finn, Scott Carrara, and Richard Fitzgerald; school committee member Dr. Erdem Ural, Town Moderator Howard Hansen, and town employees Fran Stetson and Stephanie Carrara. Kelley died following an extended illness on September 8, the day after his 58th birthday. …

Shayla Lutz, 3, of Stoughton, died following a tragic accident on Sept. 14 when she was struck by a box truck in front of the Hansen School. Visiting hours are scheduled for Sept. 18 and her funeral is scheduled for Sept. 19.

Mark Kelley Mark Edmund Kelley, former Stoughton Selectman and longtime Town Meeting Representative, died the day after his 58th birthday, Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Good Samaritan Medical Center following an extended illness. Mark lived his entire life in Stoughton and was active in political and social circles. He attended St. Mary's School in Stoughton and graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood. Following his graduation from Bentley College in Waltham with a degree in accounting, he held an executive tax position with Cumberland Farms, Inc., at its national headquarters in Canton. Edward Brawders Edward A. Brawders, 86, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. (Lysko) Brawders, who died August 1. Born and educated in Brockton, he was a graduate of Brockton Schools. Mr. Brawders was a resident of Stoughton for over 59 years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. Mr. Brawders worked as a Salesman for International Staple and Machine for over 20 years, retiring in 2002. An avid sports fan, in his free time he enjoyed fishing and golfing at Cedar Hill Golf Course in Stoughton. He is survived by his children, James E. Jean M. (Sullivan) Melito Jean M. (Sullivan) Melito, 78, of Stoughton, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 7, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, after being stricken ill at her home. She was the beloved wife of over 60 years of Peter J. Melito, Sr. Born and raised in Brookline, she was a resident of Stoughton for over 45 years. Mrs. Melito worked as a bookkeeper for McKesson Liquors and for Martignetti Liquors for many years. She retired over 15 years ago. In her free time, Mrs. Melito enjoyed watching all sports, especially baseball, and loved spending time with her family.
