Despite Injury to Key Player, Stoughton High Football Will Look to Soar Against the Sharon Eagles

Stoughton is 6-0 following a 12-7 come from behind win at North Attleboro last Friday. The Black Knights will travel to Sharon (5-1) this Saturday afternoon, looking for a perfect 7-0 start.

With the Stoughton High football team's 12-7 win over North Attleboro last Friday on the road, Stoughton Patch will look at some key factors contributing to the win and look ahead to this Saturday's road contest at Hockomock League rival Sharon (5-1) at 2 p.m. [note the time change]. Stoughton is 6-0 heading into this game. 1. Defense - No matter who the opponent, Stoughton continues to have one of the most dominant defenses in the state. Stoughton allows a sparse 5.5 points a game only trumped by Reading who allows a measly 4 points a game. Stoughton's turnover differential is huge for Black Knights and a product of their bend, but don't break defense. Stoughton continues to have a huge advantage in the turnover battle (20 takeaways …

Good luck this weekend. Again, stay focused on your job. Some may have to step up a bit to compensate for Leonard's loss. As always, the team that commits the fewest mistakes usually comes out on top. Continue to show the maturity a good team must. Do not let your opponent get to you. Ignore the language, walk away from unneccessary confrontations. Weaker teams than you will do their best to get …   more ›

Stoughton High Football Moves to 6-0 with Fourth Quarter Comeback Win at North Attleboro

Trailing 7-6 in the fourth quarter, the Black Knights responded with a touchdown drive to retake the lead and hold off North Attleboro, 12-7, Friday night on the road.

The Stoughton High football team found itself in an unfamiliar situation Friday night at North Attleboro - trailing in the second half. But when Stoughton was down by one after North Attleboro scored a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Black Knights were able to answer on offense and the defense came up with two turnovers late in the game to cement what coach Greg Burke called a "hard-fought" 12-7 comeback win to improve to 6-0 on the season. Stoughton is now 4-0 against Hockomock League teams this season. Meanwhile, North Attleboro has lost three in a row after a 3-0 start to the season. This is Stoughton's first win over North Attleboro since 2006. With Stoughton leading 6-0 with 7:25 left in the game, North Attleboro faced a…

Stoughton High Football Prepares to Hit the Road, Looking for 6-0 Start

The Stoughton High football team, playing in memory of teammate David Wade, a senior who tragically died on Sept. 29, came away with a 20-0 home win over Foxborough last week, improving to 5-0. The Black Knights travel to North Attleboro this Friday.

With the Stoughton High football team's 20-0 win over Foxborough last Friday at home, Stoughton Patch will look at some key factors contributing to the win and look ahead to this Friday's contest at Hockomock League rival North Attleboro (3-2) at 7 p.m. Stoughton is 5-0 heading into this game. 1. Defense - With another strong defensive effort by the Knights last Friday, Stoughton continues to statistically have the best defense in the Hockomock League (based on points allowed per game). Stoughton is allowing a stingy 5.2 points per game, one of the only two Hockomock teams allowing less than 10 points a game (King Philip has allowed 7.2 points per game). Stoughton has notched two shutouts and has held four of its five opponents to 7 points…

For some reason, this year the Hockomock League is extremely strong. This makes for great HS competition. Another test for our squad, each week seems to be this way. Stay focused, don't let your opponents get to you. This game, like those before, will be determined by the team making the fewest mistakes and capitalizing on the mistakes of the other team. Stay strong, stay as 11 playing as 1. Good…   more ›

Playing with Heavy Hearts, Stoughton High Football Blanks Foxborough in First Division Contest of Season

The Stoughton High football team (5-0), playing in memory of teammate David Wade, a senior who tragically died on Sept. 29, came away with a 20-0 win over Foxborough (3-2), Friday night in Stoughton.

Photos in the media gallery by Justin Braga *** Foxborough running back Kiivone Howard had three touchdowns in every game so far this season, for a total of 12 scores in four contests. That trend stopped Friday night. While Howard picked up more than 100-yards on the ground against Stoughton, he was kept out of the end zone, as was the rest of the Foxborough team, with the Black Knights shutting out the Warriors. The Stoughton High football team's 20-0 win capped an emotional week for the Black Knights. Senior lineman David Wade, 17, died last Saturday, Sept. 29 after being accidentally shot. Just eight hours prior to the start of Friday's game, Wade's teammates attended his funeral. But thanks to jumping out to an early lead and coming up…

With the Stoughton High football team's 25-6 win over Mansfield last Friday at home, Stoughton Patch will look at some key factors contributing to the win and look ahead to this Friday's contest home against Hockomock League Davenport Division rival Foxborough (3-1) at 6 p.m. [note the time change]. Friday night is also homecoming for the 4-0 Black Knights. 1. The Frankie Morris Show - Morris once again had a huge offensive game for Stoughton last Friday, pacing the Knights with four touchdowns against Mansfield. The senior fullback ended up with 161 yards on the night and was a big reason why Stoughton upset Mansfield for a second …
