MONDAY NIGHT HOMEWORK A BIG SUCCESS FOR LIBRARY: If you happen to visit the Stoughton Public Library on any Monday night that school has been in session, you will see 50 - 60 Stoughton middle and high school students busily working on homework. About fifteen of these youngsters are usually talented and amazing tutors. For the past five years, the Monday Night Homework Center has offered free tutorial help to Stoughton residents. Originally the Homework Center was supported by a grant from the Massachusetts Library System and Eastern Bank. The last few years, the Stoughton Public Schools has sponsored the program. This program is so successful because of its tutors. These young adults are top juniors and seniors as well as National Honor …

About Town: Business and Community Leaders Will Be Locked Up to Raise Money for Muscular Dystrophy Association (And More...)

LOCKED UP FOR CHARITY: On May 2, 2012, community leaders from the towns of Stoughton, Canton, and Sharon, will be going behind bars for “GOOD” as MDA’s Most Wanted Heroes!  These business and community leaders have been accused of having a big heart and have been sentenced to serve one hour at Town Spa Pizza to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which will go towards services for local individuals affected with neuromuscular diseases.  Jailbirds will be picked up at work by our Friendly Arresting Officers who are volunteering from local police and fire departments such as: Massachusetts State Police, the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Dept., and Stoughton Fire.  Dick Phillips and Kerry Hughes of the Town Spa will be co-hosting …

A SHOCKING DEVELOPMENT: Last year, Stoughton Police Chief Paul Shastany got Tasered as part of his extremely effective presentation to Town Meeting to get Tasers for the protection of his officers and the residents of the Town. That VIDEO has received over 15,000 views since then. Chief Shastany promised that Tasers would not be in the hands of the officers of the department until everyone was properly trained to use them.   Well, Stoughton Police Executive Officer Robert Devine announced on the SPD's Facebook page that Officers Jay Owens and John Gagne have completed a course that certifies them to become the department's first-ever Taser Instructors.
