Stoughton Selectmen Approve New Pizza Restaurant and Gas Station

The Stoughton Board of Selectmen gave its approval for a new pizza restaurant and new gas station in Stoughton, both located on Washington St./Route 138.

Two vacancies along Washington St./Route 138 in Stoughton could soon be filled, giving residents another place to grab a slice of pizza or fill up their car.  At its Tuesday meeting, the Stoughton Board of Selectmen gave its approval for a new pizza restaurant and new gas station in town. Selectmen approved the Common Victualler License for M and G Pizza, which will be located in the spot formerly occupied by Main Street Pizza at 713 Washington St. The restaurant, named for owner Eric Palmer's children, Michael and Gwen, will serve thin crust pizza and subs. A Stoughton resident, Palmer has been in the restaurant industry for most of his life, but this will be the first restaurant he owns, he said. Palmer said he is not planning any major …

I wish Mr. Palmer all the luck. I have lived across the street from that location for 9 yrs and there have been 5 different pizza places there. Im not sure if its the location or something about that building. But good luck and I will make sure I try it out.   more ›

WHERE'S THE GAS? - A SHELL GAME EXPOSED (PART II): Back in November About Town told you how both Shell gas stations in Stoughton - the one on Central St. near Route 24 and the one in Cobbs Corner - were out of gas.  They still are. Their owner, Ghazi Saab, who operates a number of Shell stations in the area, tells his side of the story. Saab came to the United States in August of 1986 from his native Lebanon. There was a war taking place in his homeland, and he was looking for a safer place that offered him an opportunity for success.  He moved first to New Bedford, and then to an apartment in Stoughton, and began working at the Mobil gas station at Cobbs Corner. I agree which is why I wrote I would no longer frequent corporate owned Shell stations, but I remain unclear about defining the difference in ownership. Never noticed the owners name on the Cobbs Corner Station anywhere. And, I even looked because I once was treated poorly by an employee and wanted to report it.
